I am going on 71. I had hoped to find information on my gt. grandparents Albert and Elizabeth Jane Drew before my death. I have been working on this off and on since 1959. Question: Since they owned several purchases of land and no one can find deeds, wills, sales - etc. - would Jefferson County have title abstracts? I know owners of property receive these when they purchase property here. Usually it has records of death, guardianship papers and letter of administration and it probably would have deed where my grandfather Albert transferred land to one of his sisters. Am I right? Can someone get a title checked (I have copies of deeds of their land purchases_ - and about how much do you think something like this might run? I have tried everything, as I said, even hiring a genealogist Linda Clark in Jefferson and haven't found anything in Franklin or Jefferson (family lived in Spring Garden township and shopped I think in Benton. Iknow there is a little Gibbs history in one of the books put out either in Jefferson or Franklin- but it basically consists of my own research which I let a family member in Jefferson have and they in turn wouldn't share anything. There is some thought that the first benjamin's father was a timothy wood from north carolina/kentucky with his father being william. but this connection is not confirmed. sorry i can't be of more help.
