Mine were in Jefferson Co at the same time but don't seem to be related. Just checked the IL database for marriages in Coles County (Matoon location) and saw a possibility -- John A Smith to Mary Kincaide in 1871. Looks promising, since Walter was born in 1872. I'm researching my biological connection to this family through their son, John H Hunt and his first wife Virginia Jennett-Hunt who passed away in Clinton County, Illinois when my 2x grandfather was about 2 yrs old. John's second wife was Sarah Ellen Smith. I'm trying to connect James to his suspected siblings and parents. I'd love to communicate!
