Herbert Ray Wilson, 82, of Spring Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton.He was born Nov. 8, 1930, in the Bakerville area, south of Mt. Vernon, to Tandy Denver and Velma J. (Throgmorton) Wilson.Herbert Ray married Emma Lou Bart on April 1, 1950, and they had three children together. In 1989, he married Theresa Jane Burns.After graduating from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1948, Herbert Ray was hired at Caterpillar Inc., where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He enjoyed fishing and racing boats on the Illinois River.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris Jean Standerfer; son Michael Lee Wilson; and his wife and his children’s mother. Surviving are a sister, Brenda (Larry) Stonecipher of Texico; brother Frederic (Karen) Vallowe of McLeansboro; two children, Linda (Dale) Wixson and David (Sandie) Wilson, both of East Peoria; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four nieces, two nephews and five great-nieces; and brother-in-law Ernest D. Glen D. “JR” Reiger, Jr., age 75 of Henderson, Tennessee formerly of Odin, passed away July 30th, 2013 at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.  JR" served in the U.S. Marines from 1958 - 1961. He was a member of the Centralia Moose Lodge. He enjoyed Karaoke and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends. Lavern Brown, age 84, of Cave In Rock, formerly of Odin, passed away at 10:45 Friday morning, August 30th, 2013 at Rosiclare Rehab in Rosiclare, Illinois.  She worked as a cook at Norma's Café & White Brick Café both in Salem, Illinois. She also worked at Hollywood Candy Factory in Centralia where she made candy bars. She was longtime Odin Resident before moving to Cave In Rock since 1998. She loved collecting recipe books. Zachary Taylor Braddy, age 18, of Salem, died September 2, 2013 at St. Mary Hospital in Centralia.   Zachary had a very outgoing spirit.  He enjoyed being with his family and especially liked his brother and sister pushing him around in his wheel chair as he expressed abundant laughter.  He liked watching cartoons, listening to music, swimming and was escpecially fond of balloons; many balloons.  He loved the sound of anything motorized and especially like trucks, both real and toy which included spending time at the Iuka Fire Station with the firetrucks that his Dad served on.  He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan. Watching football with his Dad was a special moment for both father and son.   Funeral services for Zachary Taylor Braddy will be 11:00 Thursday morning at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Bill Cash officiating.  Burial will follow at the Summit Prairie Cemetery. Arminta Charlene Miller, 76, of Dahlgren, died 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.She was born July 23, 1937, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Charles E. and Gladys Flo (Page) Sursa. She married Harold D. Mr. George Dreas, of Radom, departed this life at the White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. He had attained the age of 69 years and 12 days.George was born in rural Ashley on Aug. 21, 1944, the son of Anthony and Agnes (Buretta) Dreas. He was united in marriage to Patricia Pasterski on Nov. 14, 1981, and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2013.Mr. Dreas was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Radom. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a board member on the Village of Radom council. Larry "Joe" Reid, age 61, of rural Dix and formerly of Mt. Vernon passed away 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his home in rural Dix. Larry was born June 3, 1952 in Centralia, IL a son of Raymond Eugene and Wanda (Wickersham) Reid. He married Kitty Marie Pitman on February 22, 1991 in Mt. Vernon and she survives in Walnut Hill. Larry was a carpenter working for various construction companies in the area and most recently for Dave Clark. He is survived by his wife, Kitty Reid of Dix; three children, Jesse Pitman of Mt. Vernon, Wanda Vangilder and husband Doug of Mt. Vernon, and Angela Beckley and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Sharon Silliman and husband Bobby, Carole Cole and husband Lyndell, Linda Capps and husband Marvin, and Jeanette Wangler and husband Frank all of Mt. Patrick Lee Hertenstein was born April 11, 1963, in Mt. Vernon, to William and Renee Hertenstein. Patrick moved to McKinney, Texas in 1998, with his mother, Renee Hertenstein, to be near his immediate family. Patrick passed in his sleep on Aug. 23, 2013, in Plano, Texas.Patrick is survived by his mother, Renee Hertenstein; sister, Kelly Hertenstein Brehm; brother-in-law, Dwight E. Brehm; brother, Timothy Hertenstein; and sister, Lisa Hertenstein. Patrick has many nieces and nephews who he loved and adored, that will also miss him dearly.He was preceded in death by his father William W. Allen L. Dempsey, 70, of Woodlawn, Illinois passed away at 7:05 P.M. on Monday, September 2, 2013 at his farm in Woodlawn, Illinois. Michael A. Mount, 53, of Texico, died 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at his home.He was born on April 15, 1960, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Harley and Darlene (Taylor) Mount.On Aug. 18, 1979, at Panther Fork Baptist Church, he married Patricia A Rogers and she survives in Texico. Mike graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and was a member of Panther Fork Baptist Church. He worked at Graphic Packaging in Centralia for 23 years and then worked for District 80 Schools in Mt. Vernon. He was a volunteer EMT and fireman at Jefferson County Rural Fire Department Station 3 from 1985 to the present. Michael loved spending time with his family and enjoyed telling stories.In addition to his wife, Patty Mount, he is survived by his mother, Darlene Mount of Texico; a son, Christopher M. Mount of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Jennifer R. Issac and husband Jerry of Mt.
