Ed Blessin was a rural mail carrier for the area's of Jefferson County Illinois for many years. I remember him as a child, delivering our mail. Jason Dewayne Johnson, 43, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Sesser, died Oct. 15, 2013, in a rural area of Jefferson County.He was born March 17, 1970, in West Frankfort, the son of Bob Johnson, Sr. and Betty (Cockrum) Johnson, both of Mulkeytown. He married Jane (Abell) Johnson.He taught automotive class at Rend Lake College, worked at Ford Square in Mt. Vernon for 12 years and was presently employed at ILMO Gas in Mt. Vernon. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sesser and a member of Quail and Turkey Unlimited. Audrey Joy Smith, age 91, of Mount Vernon, IL, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen , WI , on Monday, October 14, 2013. Audrey Joy Thomas was born on August 14, 1922 in Calhoun, WI, the daughter of Walter E. and Agnes E. (Luhrsen) Thomas. She was raised and received her education in East Troy , WI , graduating from East Troy High School in 1940. Audrey then attended Rosary College for one year in River Forest , IL . She was united in marriage to Albert W. Smith on March 22, 1942 in Des Plaines, IL . They moved to River Grove , IL where Audrey was a homemaker and raised five children. After retiring in 1978, they moved to Mount Vernon , IL , where she lived until moving to Wisconsin in 2008. She was a member of the Mount Vernon Women's Club, was active in the River Grove, IL PTA, and was an active member in her church. Audrey had many interests, but especially enjoyed playing organ, crocheting, traveling, gardening, and cats. She is survived by her five children: Thomas "T.R." Smith (fiancé Lynda Fernow) of Maple Park, IL, Beverly (Gary) Carpenter of Clarkston, WA, Barbara (Dix) Fulton of Issaquah, WA, Judy (John) Barrett of Loyal, WI, Richard (Lucille) Smith of Elgin, IL; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert, on November 11, 2001; five brothers: Glenn, Doug, Marshall, Jim and Roger Thomas; and one sister: Beatrice Thomas. Larry Ray Sherman 73-year-old Allendale resident, Larry Ray Sherman died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. He was a former employee of Babcock & Wilcox, Snap-On Tools and worked in the oilfields as a roughneck. Survivors include a daughter, Lori Sherman of Allendale; sons, Terry and Rodney Sherman of Allendale and Randy Sherman of Mount Vernon, IL; three brothers, Albert Sherman of Texas, Billy Sherman of Lawrenceville, IL and Paul Sherman of Sumner, Ill.; two sisters, Sue Lankford and Jackie Wease, both of Lawrenceville, IL; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Harold Everett Minor, 78, of Keenes, Illinois passed away at 11:30 A.M. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at White Oak Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Harold was born on Sunday, March 3, 1935 in Wayne County, Illinois the son of the late Bert and Ruth (Wilson) Minor.  He married Wilma Chambliss on April 29, 1955 in Jefferson County, Illinois. Surviving family members include her wife: Wilma Minor of Keenes, Illinois; 2 daughters: Debbie Minor of New London, Missouri and Vicki Barker and husband Ron of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: David Minor and wife Debbie of Henderson, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren: Jill LaRue, Zachary Lewis, Jason Back, Stacy Bell and husband Bob, Adam Minor and wife Rachel and Ryan Minor; sister: Velma Williams and husband Vergil of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; 2 step grandsons: Wesley Nasbitt and Jared Barker; 9 great grandchildren: Ethan LaRue, Kelton, Alexei and Aidan Back, Katelyn and Gavin Bell, Ava and Liam Minor and C.J. Nasbitt and another great grandchild expected in March. His parents preceded him in death.    He lived on the family farm in Wayne County all of his life. Besides the love of farming Harold also enjoyed camping, gardening and crafts.  GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Garrison Temple Cemetery in Wayne County, Illinois. Donna Kay Morton, age 48, of Kell, died Friday, October 11th, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  She was a homemaker and co-owner of Morton Oil Field.   Funeral services for Donna Kay Morton will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, with Denise Burke presiding.  Burial in the Romine Prairie Cemetery in Kell.  Visitation will be from five to eight Tuesday night at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.  Memorials may be made to the family. Thorpe of Centralia and Betty (Campbell) Thorpe.  Her father survives while her mother preceded her in death.  She married Jack Morton of Kell.  They had been together since November 1987 and married on August 6th, 1994.  He survives.  She was preceded in death by son - Matthew Lynn Thorpe; brother - Steve Gwin, father and mother-in-law - C.H. Morton and wife Martha, and brother-in-law - John H. Morton.
