    2. Ruby L. Miller, 91, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:12 P.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at her home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Ruby was born on Friday, November 11, 1921 in Hamilton County, Illinois the daughter of the late Raliegh J. and Eva (Standerfer) Moore.  She married Raymond Miller on May 9, 1942 in Jackson, Missouri and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1992.  Surviving family members include her son: Eugene Miller and wife Sandra of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; daughter: Loreva Johnson and husband Bob of Knob Noster, Missouri; 4 grandsons: Jeffrey Schultz and wife Jamison of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Scott Schultz and wife Jenifer of St. Joseph, Missouri, Robert Schultz and wife Melissa of Knob Noster, Missouri and Billy Miller and wife Renae of Peoria, Illinois; 2 granddaughters: Karen Johnson of Holden, Missouri and Lori Jo Showers and husband Will of McLeansboro, Illinois; 6 great grandchildren: Taylor Ray Schultz, Kaylin Schultz, Kasey Johnson-Atkins, Anna Showers, Samantha Showers, Adam Miller and one great grandchild expected soon; brother-in-law: Charles Miller and wife Sandy; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Her parents, her husband and one brother: Eugene Malcolm Moore preceded her in death.     Ruby was Executive Secretary for the John R. Mitchell Museum Foundation, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), she attended First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.   FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Pastor Josepha Lecke will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Delores was born on Thursday, January 5, 1928 in Granite City, Illinois the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (Smithpeters) Lyle.  She married James O. Powell on November 16, 1950 in Salem, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 1990. Surviving family members include her special dear friend: Cecil Smith of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Larry Powell and wife Sharon of Troy, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: Malori Newbury and husband Matt of Sesser, Illinois, Candice Powell of St. Louis, Missouri, Nathan Powell and fiancee Dawn Grapperhaus of Aviston, Illinois and Brittany Powell of Normal, Illinois; 3 great grandchildren: Tyler Winchester, Wyatt Newbury and Caeleah Helm; sister-in-law: Shirley Lyle of Jacksonville, Florida; special friends: Carmen Ham and husband Todd of Opdyke, Illinois.     2. Michael Henry Vaughn age 60, of Mt. Vernon passed away 5:27 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis. Michael was born December 17, 1952 in East St. Louis, Illinois, a son of Pleasant and Della Alberta (Reeder) Vaughn. Michael married Lesa Renee' (Drury) on April 5, 1991 in Murphysboro, Illinois and she survives in Mt. Vernon. Michael was a member of the Connexion Church in Mt. Vernon. He had previously worked for Electronic Architects in Mt. Vernon and Hamilton County Communications. He was a member of IEBW 702 of West Frankfort. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Lesa Renee' Vaughn of Mt. Vernon; children, Margo Laminack and husband Shannon of Buncombe, IL, David King of Charleston, S.C., Emilee Jones and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon, IL , Joey Darnell of Anna, Illinois, and Kristin Crain and fiancé Bryce Marlow of Mt. Vernon, IL.; brothers, Allen Vaughn and Steve Vaughn and wife Martha of DuQuoin, IL; four grandchildren, Rebecca Laminack, McKayla Coleman, Braden Jones and Tyler Jones; father and mother-in-law, James "Larry" and Roberta "Bobbie" Drury of Belleville; grandfather-in-law, Robert "Bob" Dethrow of Mt. Vernon; aunts, Lucille Miles and Mildred Reeder; and also several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jonithan Vaughn; and a brother Gregory Vaughn. Funeral services for Michael Vaughn will be held 6:00 P.M. Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Mike Davis officiating.     2. Cecil Lee Atchison, 89, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Morton and Johnson Funeral Home in Benton. The burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion in Benton, VFW Posts and the Illinois National Guard Honor Squad. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Cecil was born in 1924, in Franklin County, to Fred (Fritz) and Veda (Underwood) Atchison of Whittington. Cecil is a veteran of World War II and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He served his local community in the VFW Honor Guard for several years. He was a retired coal miner. He was married to Mary Horner in 1950. She preceded him in death in 2005. Together they had three children. He is survived by his children, Cecil (Sharon) Robert Atchison of Marion and Connie (Craig) Cook of Thompsonville; five grandchildren, Kent (Tara) Atchison of Springfield, Kristie Cook of Mount Vernon, James (Jessica) Cook of Carmi, David Blandford of Atlanta and Steve (Amy) Blandford of Marion; and six grandchildren, Lillian and Eliza Atchison, Lincoln Cook, Dalton, Riley and Cole Blandford. She was a loving sister, wonderful mother, devoted grandmother, a homemaker, farmwife, beautician, and an extraordinary cook at home and on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. She very much enjoyed cooking 12 years for Midland Enterprises and the Ingram Barge Company. Rosa Lee was also a member of the Seafarer's Union She was born January 24, 1944, to James Howard "Red" Mezo and Leah June (Alexander) Mezo in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. (618-246-0100). Family will receive family and friends from 1-4 pm Saturday, November 2, 2013 at South Side Baptist Church, 1800 South 18th Street, Mt. Vernon, IL. Rosa Lee "Rosie" enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing & crocheting. Rosie touched the lives of many with love and kindness, be it thru recipes, a glass of iced tea at the dining table or simply by being there to listen when you needed her. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Our love goes with her and our souls wait to join her.

Vernon, Illinois; 2 sisters: Carol Anderson and husband Dennis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Julie Yost and husband Clarence of Dix, Illinois; 2 nephews: Brian Anderson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and James Ellis of Wamac, Illinois; 2 great nephews: Brayden Anderson and Kevin Anderson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 aunts: Grace Garrison of Countryside, Illinois and Joyce Erwin of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; 2 uncles: Bobby Joe Ellis and wife Patricia of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Clyde W. Ellis and wife Deloris of Bluford, Illinois; several cousins also survive. Her father and one nephew: Earl Anderson preceded her in death.    Weda worked at the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory and the Credit Bureau. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and loved taking care of all the children in her family.      In honor of her wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date
