    3. I found a bio that confirms John S. Fitzgerrell was son of James and Elizabeth (Ray) Fitzgerrell: JOHN S. FITZGERRELL, the oldest citizen of Robb Township, Posey Co., Ind., was born March 17, 1819, in Gibson County, Ind., son of James and Elizabeth (Ray) Fitzgerrell, natives of Virginia and Kentucky, and born in 1777 and 1789, and died in 1865 and 1874, respectively. The father lived in different parts of Kentucky and Indiana, and finally came to Posey County, where he purchased 160 acres of land and remained until his death. He was quite wealthy and owned, at one time, 800 acres of land. In boyhood John S. went three miles to receive instruction. March 15, 1845, he married Nancy (Clism) Graham, born December 22, 1818. They have six children: Mary L., Elizabeth A., Jane E., James and Patsey Ann, twins (deceased), and Louis E. Mr. Fitzgerrell purchased 165 acres of land soon after marriage, which he has since increased to 230 acres, besides giving three of his children sixty-six acres of land apiece. As a farmer he has been very successful. He is a stanch Democrat and cast his first vote for Martin Van Buren. He was trustee of Robb Township for three. years; he and wife are members of the Regular Baptist Church. 3. Thanks Sheldon. I found the following bio for Michael Fitzgerrell: MICHAEL FITZGERRELL In 1840, Michael Fitzgerrell came to Jefferson County and settled in Spring Garden Township, east of Ina. He was born in Garrard Co., Kentucky, in 1811 . His father was James Fitzgerrell, born in Albemarle Co., Virginia, in 1777. His grandfather was Lawrence Fitzgerrell who emigrated from lreland. Lawrence married Ester Ellis in Albemarle County, Va., and they moved to Garrard Co. James, the father of Michael, married Elizabeth Ray in Garrard Co. in 1810. He wanted to buy a farm and was toid that he could buy a certain one cheap for it was said to be haunted. James said that he wasn't afraid of haunts and he bought it and moved in. All went well until he had to be away from home overnight, leaving Elizabeth alone with her first baby, Michael. After supper, as she was spinning at her wheel, she heard some unearthly groans which seemed to come from a chimney corner outside. She decided to investigate and took a good hickory ox-bow with which to defend herself. As she started around the corner of the house, she saw something white on the ground. She began to beat on it with her ox-bow and it began to yell and beg for mercy. She kept beating until it ran away to a neighbor's. The next morning she went to the neighbor's and told him that his son was the guilty party. Upon examination, he found bruises on his son, so gave him another whipping. This ended the haunts. Shortly after this, James moved to Gibson Co., Indiana, where eight more sons and five daughters were born. He later moved to Posey Co., Indiana, and died there in 1865. In 1833, Michael married Mary Overton in Posev Co.. and they lived there until their move to Jefferson County, Ill., in 1840. Their first child, Logan, was born in 1835, in Posey Co. Subsequently, nine more children were born, seven of whom died in their teens or early twenties as a result of tuberculosis. Michael died in 1874 and is buried in the Knowles Cemetery in Spring Garden Township. In 1855, Logan was married to Nancy Simpson of Gibson County. They had nine children, Hiram, Etna, Logan, Miranda, Mary, William D., Joshua, Luther and Nancy. At the time of his marriage, Logan was given eighty acres of land in Spring Garden Township. He increased his holdings until he owned 360 acres at the time of his death in 1879. Some of the land is still owned by some of his descendants. Logan became afflicted with "gold fever" about the time of the gold rush in California. He and others from Spring Garden loaded four ox-drawn wagons and started for Califoinia. The party was gone for four years and all came back broke. - Logan's son, William Dodds Fitzgerrell (1866-1946) married Mattie Belle Scarborough about 1893. He built his home on some of the original land holdings. Six children were born: Harl, Harry, Brooke, Nell, Carmen and Louis R. All bre living except Harl and Harry. Brooke, who was married to Harmon Irvin, deceased, lives in Belle Rive. Nell and her husband, Charles Moss, live in Benton, and Carmen and his wife, Marie Johnson, live in Marion. Louis and his wife, Katherine Morris, live in Mt. Vernon. William and his wife who died in 1911 are buried in Kirk Cemetery north of Ina. - K. 1. Re: [ILJEFFER] DNA Test

    3. Nancy, complicated answer: a) quick answer is No - 23andme now uses their own proprietary "V4"chip (different from standard V3, but not what was really going to be version 4), not 23andme is no longer compatible with anyone else. b) Ancestry is getting away from DNA testing now (it simply isn't profitable for them, so...) - there is a big uproar that they are destroying all the samples people have sent in, so as technology improves you will not be able to upgrade the sample.... Bottom line: -- if you want to compare with others at 23andme - test at 23andme (they are supposedly mapping new samples with those taken with the previous "V3" chip -- if you want to compare with people at FTDNA Family Finder (FF), test at FTDNA -- honestly, I can't recommend anyone test with ancestryDNA anymore, suspect won't be long before they stop it all together... 1. [ILJEFFER] DNA Test
    2. I had a DNA test done by 23&me. I got my preliminay results this morning. My paternal haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a2d3a. the R1b1b2 is the most common haplogroup in western Europe. R1b1b2a1a2d3a is more common to north west Europe along the Atlantic cost, including Irish, Basques, British, French. My maternal haplogroup H6a1b. H6 and H8 are among the oldest offshoots of haplogroup H, tracing back to present-day Turkey and Syria about 30,000 years ago. Subsequent migration carried the two branches eastward to the Altay Mountains of Central Asia, where both – especially H6 – are common among speakers of Altaic languages such as Kazakh, Altay and Mongolian. About 3,000 years ago a westward migration carried the H6a branch of H6 into Europe. It has been found at low levels – 4% or less – in Czechoslovakia, France, Ireland, and Sweden. 2.9% of your DNA is from Neanderthals. Should have the rest of the report in a couple of weeks. 3. Bob I did the DNA test on 23andme (as well as ancestry.com) and 23andme says I am 100% European: Percentage 72.6 British and Irish 11. 1 French & German 3.1 Scandinavian 0.2 Finnish 12.5 Broadly Northern European 0.2 Eastern European 0.3 Broadly European As for haplogroup they state I am in "Unknown" They show an estimated 3.4% of my DNA is from Neanderthals. I am confused by how they do matching. Wish I could see the results similar to the way FamilyTreeDNA displays the results for the Y-DNA testing my brother, son and male cousins have done. Awesome! -- we aren't direct blood cousins that I know of, so you probably won't see me as a distant cousin - will see how many close matches show up :-) -SRJ > -----Original Message----- > From: iljeffer-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:iljeffer- > bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of rwlmn@aol.com > Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2014 2:37 PM > To: ilfrankl@rootsweb.com; iljeffer@rootsweb.com; rwlmn@aol.com > Subject: [ILJEFFER] DNA Test > > > I had a DNA test done by 23&me.
