Hi again, I have been looking for my Murray P. HARRIS who married Margaret F. "Maggie" (SMITH) in Feb 1870 in Jasper Co IL. He found himself in some sort of a bad situation and ended up in the MO State Penn. from Apr 1871 to be there til 1873 but was pardoned by the governor and released. This took place due to the fact his father ( Josiah HARRIS who was residing in Pana, Christian, IL 1872) wrote a letter informing the attorney and the governor how he, Josiah, was very ill and in lots of pain and could no longer support his family and that Murray only pled guilty because the family had no money. They were very poor. The attorney agreed and the judge did not want to sentence him but the statutes made that the only thing he could do. Murray was released and I presume they will be found in Christian Co IL or perhaps in Rolla, Phelps, MO in 1870 since I have been unable to locate them in Jasper Co IL.
