Hi fellow listers, I am in desperate need of a volunteer who is in or around Newton, Ill. I have been trying for 2 years to get this information from Jasper County. I have tried the genealogical society, and the Newton Public Library to get it, but as of yet have had NO response to my several requests. I am more than willing to reimburse anyone for their time and copying fees. I am looking for 7 obituraries, all of them are in Jasper County, they all lived and died in Grove Township, but one. He died in Cumberland County, but I believe because he as well as his parents were lifetime residents of Jasper county they would have an obituary for him as well. Looking for information about Amanda CAMPBELL, who I presume to be a widow in 1850 census of Jasper Co. She had 3 HITEN Children, one of which was William Riley HITEN. I am almost certain that William Riley HITEN was the father of Sylvanus L. HITEN who was in Stone County Arkansas in 1881 and in Okla. I.T. in 1900-1910. Is anyone familiar with this family? Amanda was in Lacledes Co. Mo. by 1870, but not for the 1880 census. Where was William Riley Hiten? I have lots of DILLMAN relatives buried at the Mound Cemetery. I have a copy of the cemetery listing outline prepared sometime in the 1980's but would like to know WHERE in the cemetery these graves are to be found. Does anyone know who maintains those records and how I could get in touch with them? Looking for information regarding the parents of William A. LEWIS who was born 3-1-1868 somewhere in Jasper County, IL. All I have so far are names: George W. LEWIS and Mary E. FRENCH LEWIS. George was supposedly born in Pennsylvania (but I have nothing to prove this) and Mary was supposedly born in Ohio (no proof here, either). William and Ella are my great-grandparents.
