Mary, I just looked at an 1876 Illinois Atlas and it appears that Rockwood is shown as being situated in T8S, R5&6W. It does seem like quite a distance to travel for mail service from T10 R3W. Liberty/Rockwood was a very thriving community back at this time, possibly due to this fact, Liberty P.O. may have served a very large area.
