Hello all, My interests are the ARNDT, BEHNKEN, BRADLEY, LOY, RUSSELL and associated families in Jackson, Randolph and Perry Counties. My Jackson County families primarily lived in Bradley Township with some settling near Murphysboro. I have quite a bit of information on these and associated families. Be sure to check my web site at http://www.mindspring.com/~jsruss/ for more information and photographs. I'm also available to do lookups (full name, not surname only pls) in the following books. Jackson County, Formation and Early Settlement Jackson County, County Commissioners Court Records 1823-1835 Jackson County, Military Census and Military Rolls 1862-1863 Jackson County, Meetings of County Court and Jury Lists 1823-1841 Do You Remember Campbell Hill St. John "Post Oak" 1864-1989 I might have some others, but those are what I see on my bookshelf right now. I lived my early years in Steeleville spending a lot of time on my Grandparents farm in Perry County which was across the County line from Post Oak Church. Although I am not a great researcher, I have been trying for many years to find the Adams' of Jackson and Randolph Counties. I am stuck on Elijah Adams and Eliza (Warren) Adams. Eliza is from Missouri and Elijah from Morgan County KY. Children: Lucy John m Maggie Kimball & Isabella Drake Daniel Thomas Any info would be appreciated. Bill Adams
Hello All, It is great to see so much helpful activity on the list. Just a gentle reminder that it would be helpful if folks would do the following when replying to a post: (1) Remember to change the subject line if the subject being discussed changes. Make the subject line reflect "your" query. (2) Try to keep quoting to a minimum. "Quoting" is repeating text of the message you are replying to. Some quoting is necessary to remind other readers what the thread is about but do try to use good judgment. Quoting the previous writer's signature block or surname list is totally unnecessary Thanks for your cooperation. Karima
Thank you for offering to do this. I am looking for ANY "DARWIN" Surname you would have. They all would be related to me. The Preface of the book states: "This publication contains a record of burials conducted by Carbondale undertaking establishments and funeral homes from 1877 through 1952, a period of seventy-five years." In other words, it is not just deaths that occurred within the Carbondale City limits, but also for deaths that occurred in the surrounding area, which were handled by funeral homes in Carbondale. Carole: You stated that you also have the cemetery books for Union and Pulaski Counties. I am looking for the burial place of one of my husband's great-grandfathers. His name is Elisha F. Short; died after 1900 and before 1916; most likely died around the Ullin area. Any information would really be appreciated. HI, My Great grandmother Susie Williams Neely b. 1862 d. 1902 had 11 children. I only know of 4 positively, William b.1881 d.1955, George b.1883 d.1937, Elmer b.1899 d.before 1957, Ernest b.1902 d. after 1957 but have probable clues to 3 others. They are Fred, Arthur, and Albert. Would you mind looking for possible information on the last 3 mentioned and any other NEELY names that may be in the index. I would think with 11 children she must have had a daughter or two in there somewhere. I would love to be locate a female in this family! Thank you for your time on my request. Debbie
Carol, I checked the Union and Pulaski County cemetery books that I have (Volume 5 of Pulaski as I discovered was loan to a friend...so I have to check it when I get it back...) regardless, I found NO Elisha Short in either Union or Pulaski set of cemetery books...Sorry.. Joyce; I don't think that is "my" David. My David's children were all born inthe US, as far as I can determine. Carol Our life may not always be the party we would have chosen, but while we are here, we may as well dance!
I'm sorry, I know better! William was born about 1846-47, James was born August 18, 1851, Charles was born July 11, 1856. There was also a Daniel that was born about 1849-50. That is the only info I have on them. Nancy was listed in the 1875 Jackson County census but can't find her after that. Thanks for all of your help!! If information is found, I will post it on the list. If nothing is found, I not respond on the list, but rather will let the person who posted the query of that I could not find the requested information. Please give me as much information as you can regarding your request, so I will know if I am on the right track.
