    3. Linda, I have a listing of everyone buried in Goodbread Cemetery. Is there anything I can help you with? It is a small cemetery located between Gorham and Grand Tower, Illinois along Route 3 along the bottoms of the Mississippi River. It sits on a little hill about a 1/4 mile off the road. Goodbread was a familiar name in the early days of Jackson County history. I grew up in Jackson County (I left about 17 years ago) but I have been back and visited several times as I have relatives buried there. 3. I wish I had studied German pronounciation. I have heard that my ancestor Conrad Will's name was pronounced as Coon-rod. His daughter Elizabeth Husband WILL married Benningsen BOON (Elizabeth and Benningsen were my g-g-g-grandparents) and they had a son they named Cyrus Conrad Boon. My mother and her father used to speak of a "Coon" Boon, who visited the Wilson family in Illinois (after he had moved to Oregon), but it took me quite some time to realize that Coon Boon was Cyrus Conrad Boon, because it was not until years later that I discovered that the Germans pronounced Conrad as Coon-rod. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Todd" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2003 2:51 PM Subject: German Pronunciation Re: [ILJACKSON] Good Bread? > Gee this makes sense even to me. 3. I have followed this discussion but may have missed some of the notes. I research the Crain family and that was what drew my attention to these messages. A couple of years ago I was over at the Crain cemetery and made pictures; I have a picture of a tombstone which is inscribed: Louisa, wife of Squire Crain, died Feb. 16, 1855, aged 55 yrs, 1 m, 19 ds Is this yet another Louisa. I'm sorry to bother you but I have been reading most of the messages but may have missed one that explained this. georgia [email protected] ps: I have John Benjamin Crain's DAR RW papers which lists all his children and those who settled south of Chester. Also, if any of you are researching Crain's do you know the date of the newspaper (1920's or 30's) which gave the history of the Crain's settled in that area (I call them Crain Island Crain's) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Shawcross" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 8:52 AM Subject: Re: [ILJACKSON] Estate of Cynthia Henson > Thanks for providing this information. 3. Thanks for providing this information. The 1870 census identifies her as Laura, but you have now provided two records that identify her as Louise. I will note this in my record for her, and I will assume that her name probably really was Louise. She was the daughter of Anderson D. HENSON and Cynthia Ann WHITSON However, the question still remains as to which Louise HENSON married the CRAINs. The death record that Randy found indicates that Louise Henson Crains' father was John HENSON, not Anderson D. HENSON. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 8:57 AM Subject: [ILJACKSON] Estate of Cynthia Henson > LDS Film # 968940 Jackson County, IL Probate 1876--79 > > p. 226 C.A. 3. Randy, I suspect we are talking about different people. The youngest daughter of Anderson D. HENSON and Cynthia Ann WHITSON was named Laura, not Louise, and she was listed as Laura and 8 years old in the Jul 1870 census for Killion Twp. I do not have any records of John A. HENSON or Cynthia THOMPSON, so I cannot verify that they had a daughter named Louisa A., as stated in the Randolph County death records. On the other hand, I have no reason to question the accuracy of the death record. I currently list Louisa C. HENSON, daughter of Benjamin B. HENSON and Louisa WOOLRICK, as the wife of Samuel Jefferson CRAIN and Aubry C. CRAIN. I am wondering if this is correct, in light of your discovery regarding the Randolph County death record for Louisa A. Perhaps I have identified the wrong Louisa HENSON as the spouse of the CRAINs? Does anyone have any information regarding the descendants of John A. HENSON and Cynthia THOMPSON, or their ancestors? 3. Anderson D. HENSON married Cynthia Ann WHITSON. Their children were Cyrene Jane, Boon, Jacob, and Laura. Cynthia is listed as a widow in the Jul 1870 census Killion Twp., Jackson, IL family 49. With her are her four children. Her son Boon was named for the close family connection between the WHITSON family and the BOON family. Cynthia Ann WHITSON's brother, William Boone WHITSON, married Sarah BOON. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 24, 2003 6:36 PM Subject: Re: [ILJACKSON] Louisa Henson > Peg, > > Parents of Louise/a Henson are Anderson D. 2. Peg, Parents of Louise/a Henson are Anderson D. Henson and Cynthia Thompson. Louisa must have been born shortly after 1860 census was taken (1860--61?) Thompson comes from the marriage license of Louisa Henson to Samuel Crain. Cynthia Henson has probate records listing her children as Boon, Jacob, and Louisa. Others say Cynthia was a Whitson. ?
