Hi List: Does anyone know of the Henry County Illinois Patriot Biographical Album (1885)? Interested in all information on John GARBER p 631 and Johann Adam STROHECKER. ----- Original Message ----- From: ws7819 To: vze4tx9x Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 3:49 PM Subject: More on John in Rev.war ht3]Leah's granddaughter Loretta Strohecker Conaty filed DAR Record No. 90191 in 1923 stating that Leah's father John Garber (b. July 4, 1753; d. Jan. 1818) was a private in Capt. William Bell's Co., 4th Batt., Lancaster Co. Militia of Col. James Burd in 1776; and was on the rolls as private in Capt. Andrw. Stewart's Company, 4th Batt., Lancaster Co. Militia of Col. Robert Elder in 1778, 79, 81 and 82. She cited Pa. Archives, 5th Series, Vol. 7, pp. 357, 384, 410, 1006 and 1039; and Henry County, Ill. Patriot Biographical Album (1885), p. 631. [It is possible that the John Garber was actually E1 in this compilation. SRG.] ___________________________________________________
I am absolutely interested! In my notes I show my grandmother's comments that he was in the revolutionary war, but I had nothing to prove it. I show him as Johannes Gerber d Berks Co Pa married Magdalena (?). I show two children, Leah b 2-10-1781 and Maria Barbara. Any additional information I would really appreciate. I show Johannes's father as Peter??? And, of course, Leah married Daniel Strohecker, whose father was Johann. All I have on his story is he was found on pension rolls in Berks, PA as serving as a Seargeant for Captian George Will's D ivision in the revolutionary war, 1777. I have hooked up with some avid Strohecker genealogists and there is much I would be happy to share here.
