Flavia, A Joel Wells died in Galena in 1838. He had 4 children and perhaps one of them also was a Joel? The 1885 Henry County bio was likely written by a child or grand child!! Jan Roggy can possibly send you this Bio.... I thought I had the bio Jan was referring to, but if your information came from it, then I don't have it. The one I have concerns Joel Wells, Sr. who came from Vermont to Illinois, first to Gallatin County and then Rock Island County, by way of Galena. Maybe I don't have the one referred to....... Flavia
That info is in the bio that I was talking about, but I do believe he died in Moline, as he moved from Galena to Moline in 1828 & he died there 9/3/1838 & his wife died there 12/4/1847. I want to talk to the lady I bowl with, as her last name is Wells and she's researching her family, and I know that they came from Mass. also. I will see her tomorrow night, so I'll ask her if Joel fits into their lines. Since she works at the Mormon Library, she might have more extensive knowledge on this line. Let me get back to you after I talk to her. Jan Flavia Hodges wrote: > > A Joel Wells died in Galena in 1838.
