I need some assistance in determining the names of these documents, listed as the 'source' for the Henry County web pages. As mwntioned earlier, I am creating a family tree database of the people listed in the bios in the web pages. The people are linked to various events, dates, locations, and sources. When completed, I will create a searchable databas and a gedcom of the information, I am not one of the 'volunteers', and this is a project that I decided to work on, to perhaps make it easier to locate people mentioned in the web pages. The resulting files could be made available in Mac and PC formats upon request. But I need to resolve some differences in the naming of documents. the following enteries appear different to a computer database: 1. Henry Co 2. Henry Co. 3. Henry County The look the same to you and me, but different to the computer. By resolving this minor problem, all pppeople linked to the documnt (or location) will show uo in chronoligical order in the appropriate place. Any assistance is appreciated. Does the title start with 'The' or 'History'? I looked up this book in the OCLC database. There are nine different entries for it, plus an entry for an index to the biographical sketches. Of the nine, six start with "The", three lack "The" in the catalog entry. They all appear to me to be the same 1877 589 page publication or some kind of copy of it. None of the entries give the full title of the book; it appeared that the closest to that was "The history of Henry County, Illinois: its tax-payers and voters; containing also a biographical directory, a condensed history of the state, map of the county, a business directory, an abstract of every-day laws, war record of Henry County, officers of societies, lodges, etc., etc." To get a definitive answer, I think you'll have to look at a copy of the actual book yourself. > Is this the same book? Does the title start with 'The' or 'History I'm no librarian, but it seems to me that "the" is usually dropped when indexing, otherwise too much gets filed under "T." "The" is disregarded by most search engines and thus, particularly in a computer environment, you are probably better off omitting it. It is "understood." -rex

Results of another OCLC database search: There are seven relevant entries, all of which look to me to relate to a single original publication. Two paper format reprints, two microform reprints, and three indexes on microform. The "primary" entry bore this title in the catalog: "History of the state of Nebraska containing a full account of its growth ... of its early settlements; its rapid increase in population, and the marvelous development of its great natural resources. Also an extended description of its counties, cities, towns and villages ... biographical sketches, portraits ... views." This is a 1506 page book originally published in 1882 (according to the catalog entries). Rollie
