    3. Mimi, I was wondering what your "Handy Book for Genealogists" is. Is that the title? If not, what is it and where can it be found? Thanks! Birth certificates were not required in Illinois until 1916 so you will not be able to get a certificate from the state for your 1902 birth. The listing for Henry County states that "the county clerk has incomplete birth and death records from 1877" so you might have some luck there. Also, birth records for Henry County have been microfilmed by the LDS church so you can also order the microfilm through your local Family History Center. I have done so many times and find them to be excellent. Hope this helps. I always hate to see people wasting their time looking for a record in the wrong place. After 27 years as a genealogist I know that half the battle is just knowing where to look!
