I've just had a rash of people unsubscribing from the list and more that I had to unsub from the list. Thus there are a few things I want to bring up real quick as our list has now grown to well over 150 subscribers. 1) When you reply to the list, especially from DIGEST mode, please make the subject line appropriate to your message. Messages with RE: ILHenry Digest # blah blah blah or " I need Help" don't help those who want to quickly scan the digest for a response to a question. I get about 150-200 emails a day for example--I may overlook an important message if it has a bad subject line. Draw more attention to your message by using the surname or area in your subject line or RE: whatever the subject was you are addressing. 2) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE folks, if you are changing servers or email addresses, UNSUBSCRIBE from the list before you do this and resubscribe with your new address. Every time a bad email address "bounces" a notice comes to my mailbox about it. Yesterday alone I had close to 50 of them and had to spend almost 2 hours tracking down the subscribers, removing them from the list, putting them back ON the list, etc. This is time I could be using on working on our website. 3) If you will be going on vacation and your mailbox has a limit on how many messages it will hold, please unsub until you come back. Half the bounces yesterday were caused by "Mailbox Full" 4) When responding to the list, especially if you are subbed in Digest form, PLEASE do not quote the entire list back in your response. Please delete the extra posts you are not responding to and try to only quote back the message or info you are responding to. This makes the mail load a lot easier for everyone to handle and makes the folks at Rootsweb happy. (less load on their system and since they give us this list free, we should be nice) It also helps us to not have those pesky "Mailbox Full" bounces. And now, one more thing--I will NOT be here to monitor the list from July 7 to July 17 as I will be going to IL and IA for my MARTIN-WOODWARD reunion (two of my Henry Co lines) and will also be making a brief research jaunt over to Henry Co while there. I know you all will play nice while I am gone--I am SO proud of my listmembers--we've never had a flame war or unkind words on this list and everyone here is just THE BEST I will address the issue of the scanning of the 1877 Taxpayers book upon my return. I have only just found out that I am going north and my time between now and then is going to be spent catching up MY GENEALOGY so that I can present it at our reunion. I hope you all understand.
