I have been searching for my paternal ancestors. I have enjoyed reading about Geneseo, IL on the rootsweb website. I know my family lived there at one time. (His parents were Draper RUGGLES, b. 13 Mar 1801., d. 29 Dec 1873, of Rutland VT and Westboro, MA, m. 14 Apr 1822 to Nancy M. Corbett who died 7 Oct 1832. I have a huge GEDCOM for this RUGGLES family, descendents of George RUGGLES and Eliazbeth RUGG? married 6 Mar 1632 in Boston, Suffolk County, MA. ) Isaac D. RUGGLES m. Catherine G. CRAWFORD 25 Jul 1846 in Worcester, MA. (one record says they married in Rock Island, IL?) children (RUGGLES): i. Ella Frances, b. 24 Aug 1847. ii. Kate Sophia Ruggles, b. 19 May 1850. iii. Henry Draper, b. 10 Oct 1852. iv. Edward Appleton, b. 12 Jul 1853, d. 2 Sep 1854. v. *Edward Appleton, b. 29 or 30 Mar 1855, d. 6 Apr 1938 vi. William Crawford, b. 25 Feb 1857. vii. Emma Belle, b. 15 Jan 1859. viii.Charles Albert, b. 29 Jan 1861, d. 17 Mar 1862. *Edward Appleton RUGGLES: b. 29 or 30 Mar 1855 in Madison, IN, moved to IL at age 1, later moved with his wife to Duluth where they lived at 203 S. 18th Ave. E., d. 1938 in Duluth, MN. He worked in the grocery business. He married Clara Mary CARL b. 7 Jul 1866 in Geneseo, IL. (Munson township) d. 22 Feb 1945 in Duluth, MN. Children (RUGGLES): 1. Mable Leah b. 1883, m. a HUNTER in Geneseo, IL 2. Eva b. Oct 11 1884, d. Dec 1985 in WI, buried in Duluth, MN. m. Frank HAMM around 1900 in Geneseo, IL, b. ?, d. between 1956 & 1958 in PA. They lived at 4722 Pitt St.in Duluth. Frank was a lithographer for the newspaper in Duluth. Their children grew up there & went to Duluth Central High: children (HAMM): i. Kathryn C. b. 1904 in Duluth, MN, d. 25 Mar 1984 in WI, married (1) Ray STEINER who worked for Great Northern Railroad (2) Dave WANLESS (had one adopted child named Susie) ii. Edward Ruggles b. 1906 in Duluth, MN, d. 1992 in FL, married (1) Verna SEVILLE in 1929 in Ohio, but they lived in Duluth, where they had 3 children (Marilyn, Jeffery Edward, Janice), (2) Opal Ruth Gibson (my mother) in PA, where they had 3 children (Edward Gibson, Deborah Elizabeth, Timothy Charles, (3) Olive FULL in FL (no children) 3. Winnie Bell b.1885, m. Hugh MCKENZIE in Geneseo, IL. He was a photographer. 4. Draper Henry b. Aug 5 1890, died of measles 5 may 1891 at age of 9 months. 5. Ethel Kathryn b. 26 Feb 1892, m. Frank DOUBT in 1917 in Duluth, MN. Children (DOUBT): i. Ruggles ii. Andree b. 1948 in Duluth. (I am wondering if this is the wrong date, or if Andree is Ruggles' child?)
