There IS a city called Henry in IL--it is in Marshall Co. Now if you want a research nightmare, take my great grandfather Richard Wooodward as a prime example. Richard Woodward was born in Henry, IL and died in Henry Co IL. In early research I did on Richard, I could have saved a lot of time if my source material had been more clear on this. The funeral record I found said only Henry IL as the birthplace of Richard's daughter, my grandmother. As it turned out she was born in Kewanee, Henry, IL., not in Henry, Marshall, IL, but because Richard was born in Henry, IL I did a bit of goose chasing to figure this all out. So, a tip, suggestion or whatever you want to call it....standard form for genealogists for a long time is getting sloppy with the advent of computer genealogy programs...when you enter your locations, to make things clear, I recommend the following When you know the town, county and state: Kewanee, Henry, IL When you do not know the town but know the county and state: Henry County, IL or Henry Co., IL If you know the town and state but not the county, I recommend you get an atlas or use the USGS Locator located at http://www-nmd.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html and find the county for your town and enter it as you enter your data. You may know what county someplace is in but later generations may not have a clue..the town may not exist when future generations are looking at your data. There is also a McHenry County IL --we get folks here periodically who really need McHenry County--we also have a few folks who have families that migrated from McHenry County to Henry County...
