I don't usually respond to much and just look, but I use to go to High School in Newark Illinois with a Steve Blakenship. I do not know if there is any connection to your family or not, but there are a few Blakenship's there. They are farmers and had some pretty large farms. I know Steve's family had lived there for quite a long time. I lived there in 1966. It might be worth checking it out.
