Dear List, I have a family of Thomas and Mary Jeffryes who passed away in Mercer Co, buried in Cooper Cem. in 1879. The family came over from England about 1840. Why they, first sons Thomas William b. 1820 and Frederick Voltare b. 1825 then the rest, came all the way to Mercer Co or Henry Co, from the port of entry is a mystery, maybe a relative. They lived in Oxford Twsp which I can't find. Does anyone have a local history book of the area, or is there one which may have some information about farmers in the 1850-1860's. Who did they live with as young men?. My local library doesn't have anything on Illinois, much less Mercer Co or Henry Co. The family moved on into Iowa and Nebraska, they must have followed a railway line, was there one going through Henry to Mercer and west? As they stopped off in some small hamlets. Any help would be grateful, thanks. Robert
