Hi Richard & Julie, I am the person interested in O.H. Loomis. My grandmother's uncle, Horatio Sanford, moved to Kewanee from Belchertown, MA in the late 1850s or early 1860s. He enlisted in an IL regiment and was killed in 1864. I have his diary where he reports of sending money to O.H. Loomis whom he refers to as "cousin Loomis" although when O.H. Loomis received his effects, he was listed as his Agent. I believe they purchased land together as in letters from Loomis reported in the diary, he has watered apple trees that Horatio had planted. Since Chicopee MA is right next to Belchertown, I wonder if they didn't go out to IL together. I also wonder if there isn't a connection with the Chapin/Loomis/Sanford families. I am still looking for Horatio Sanford's 1863 diary which is refered to in his effects. Also, does anyone have a copy of the ledgers that list land transfers from late 1850s to early 1860s? I would like to know the property transfer number so I can request a copy of the deed. Susan Sanford Sellew Vermont At 12:02 AM 04/08/2001 -0700, you wrote: >> Julie, you have made my day.
