Hello list, Hope all is well with everyone....(the flu bug has been visiting here in FL...) I am starting back on my Henry County research and I am trying to focus on the ALLEN family that came from Northern Ireland in the mid 1860s and settled in Atkinson and Geneseo. I am descended from the line of Hugh ALLEN (b. 1844 d.15 Dec 1883) and Agnes GREY? (b. 1843 d.11 Jun 1908?) which includes their sons Andrew b. June 1864 d.04 Dec 1947 and married to Dana Esther Benton. Thier daughters were Elvira b. 1891, Beulah (b. 1897 d. 01 Jan 1929 ), and Gwendolyn.(b. 1902) Samuel (b. Feb 1869 d.01 Jun 1928) married Jennie M. Pritchard (no known children) John (b. July 1871 d. c 1965) married Nellie Morrow (b 16 Jan 1869/1870 d 28 Dec 1926) who had one surviving child at birth Merle b. 1898 d. 1986) To my knowledge and extensive research this appeared to have been the only individuals in this family group. Apparently there was a cousin to either Hugh or Agnes in the area also from Northern Ireland but I am unable to pin this person down. There is one female, who I believe to be related to Agnes (maiden name might be GREY), and I also have seen a Robert Allen who is abt the same age as Hugh who is also listed as being from Northern Ireland but I cannot link him to my line. I found a photo from c. 1905 that has my great grandmother with the family and there is a little boy that is noted by her as her "4th" cousin. She wrote that about 75 years after the fact so I am not sure how valid it is. From census records there were no males born to her uncle so I am assuming it was not her first cousin on the ALLEN side. Their is another ALLEN family in Geneseo that originated from England. I do not believe they are related to my line as my ALLENS were Scotch-Irish. All the ALLENs buried in Geneseo are at the Oakwood Cemetery. Thanks for any information.. best wishes Stephen
