The two things I am trying to find out is which SCOTT family he was from and if they had children. Thanks, DeeDee

Diana, The Scott famiily I am looking for had at least 5 sons born in the 1830's and 1840's. They would have married and had children, about the 1850 - 1870's. I have only been able to trace the descendants of one (my gg grandfather) and one did not have any children. There are 3 Scott boys (Joseph, Luther and Elijah) out there that may have had children and grandchildren still in Henry Co. That's why I say, "If you have time..." I'm really grasping at straws here. :-) Once I have the information I won't know for sure, for sure if they're mine unless the father is Joseph, William Henry, Elijah, Luther or Lorenzo (and Lorenzo supposedly did not have children, he is buried in Corwith IA.) Because I don't know the names of their children, I wouldn't know for sure if the father would be the son of one of the three: Joseph, Luther or Elijah. Does this make sense to you? I checked the Rosedale Cemetery book and didn't find any Atwwod or any variation of that fits you Mabel Atwwod. I also checked Oakwood Cemetery book just to verify. And North Cemetery in Geneseo. There are three Atwood's there, but no Mabel. There is a Carl E. F. Johnson buried in North Cemetery, Geneseo, Henry County, Illinois; Date of death is 3-10-1918, Block 37, Lot 128 1/2 Grave 2 There is a Carl A., Carl R., and Carl Edvin, in Rosedale Cemetery, but nothing to match Carl Emil or Emil Carl, nor the dates you give. There are several Carl Johnson's in Oakwood Cemetery, but none match the dates you give. I wish I could have been of more help. Does anyone know how to get a copy of these books. The bios of Henry Co. My family comes from these Mahaffey's, Glass's and Young's. I would love to know if these families are in there and perhaps how to obtain copies of these books. Rhona Mahaffey-Boyd E-mail address is - Boogie720@aol.com

Jan, Yes, the Senior Joel Wells died in Moline - at least that is what the concensus of opinion is..... Son, Joel, Jr. supposedly married in Galena around 1819-20 to a lady named Mary Jones (?) They had a number of children, but are enumerated in the 1859 census in Henry County with children, Henry, Charles, Emily, William Joel, and another that escapes me at the moment. One of those "histories" written by a Zumwalt indicates they had 9 children in all...... Joel died in 1856/57 and Mary has been difficult to track. Finally discovered she died in Sioux Falls, SD where her grandson Rollin J. Wells, an attorney, lived for many years......she lived into her nineties. Thanks for everything. Flavia
Just saw your name, Peterson. My grandfather Jonas Peterson came to BH with his mother Anna Danielson (Ersdotter) Peterson. Her parents Anna and Erick Danielson came to BH earlier. That info is in the bio that I was talking about, but I do believe he died in Moline, as he moved from Galena to Moline in 1828 & he died there 9/3/1838 & his wife died there 12/4/1847. I want to talk to the lady I bowl with, as her last name is Wells and she's researching her family, and I know that they came from Mass. also. I will see her tomorrow night, so I'll ask her if Joel fits into their lines. Since she works at the Mormon Library, she might have more extensive knowledge on this line. Let me get back to you after I talk to her. Jan Flavia Hodges wrote: > > A Joel Wells died in Galena in 1838.
