    3. Hi Pamela, I'm sending a copy to Bill STRAWHACKER because I think our interests overlap. First Leah GERBER was b 1778, Reading, Berks Co., PA, d. 1807 Northumberland Co., PA. On 1798 she m. Daniel STROHECKER. b 10 Oct 1776 Reading, Berks Co., PA, d. 19 Jun 1826. To this union were born six children: Samuel (1799), Jacob (1800), David (1802), John Adam (1804), Daniel (1806) and Sarah (1807). Was it about this time that Daniel remarried? If so I don't know about it? Did Daniel remarry and move to IL or move to IL and remarry? I would like to focus on Daniel STROHECKER b 2 Nov 1802 Reading, Berks Co., PA, d 7 Oct 1888 Cambridge Twp., Henry Co., IL. I have the information that is available on-line, perhaps LDS. I can correct your information regarding Leah GERBER. She was first child of John GERBER b 1747 d. 8 Aug 1819 Berks Co., PA and Anna Marie ADAM b abt 1755 Berks Co., PA., d 5 Jun 1811 Reading, Berks Co., PA. John GERBER b 1747 was the first child of Johannes GERBER d. 1777 Berks Co., PA (copy of his will is available from Berks Co.) I think the Johannes you had was not the right one. As far as the father of Johannes d. 1777 I have come to an impasse. In the early 1900's, a railroad right of way was built through the GERBER family cemetery. I can identify the few headstones remaining as (see Berks Co. web site) the spouses of the GERBER children. However, our chances of going back to Europe are very small. 1. [ILHENRY-L] KEGEBEIN
    2. Hello. I have just recently obtained an 1893 Stark County marriage record for John F. KEGEBEIN and Emma PEASE. Emma was the daughter of my ggg-grandmother Arilla GIPE, and half sister to my gg-grandmother Mary Ellen GIPE/Ella BURNS (Monroe, Parquette, Krueger) who lived and died in Kewanee, Henry County. While tracing the KEGEBEIN family through the census, I found that one of John and Emma's children settled in Kewanee. His name was Leslie KEGEBEIN. In the 1930 census, he and his wife Gertrude had two children, "Junior" and Donald Eugene. Donald may still be living in Kewanee as there is a white pages listing for him. If anyone is tracing this line, or knows of these individuals, I'd appreciate discussing the family with you. Thank you. Shelly in California

    1. [ILHENRY-L] ny efforts for the web site
    2. Just wanted to say 'Hello; again, and that I am still working on: 1. creating a family tree database from the bios 2. creating a searchable database from the family tree database/ As for cleanup and non-existant email addresses; 1. I have found some minor errors in the bios; probably scanning errors, like i88i instead of 1881; letters e and c misread by the scanner, etc. 2. I have created a WORD document of all of the bios, and attempted to contact the submitters. (Its about a 200 page file.) I could create a list pf the submitters and thier email addresses, if desired. I'm not a volunteer, just a permanently disabled 58 year old man, assuming my brain cancer operation was successful. This is something am doing in my 'spare time', which looks like I have plenty of time for. I am currently at 'L' alphabetically in the bios, entering namesm vitals, and events into the database. From that I can produce web pages, family tree drawings, lists of what events took place at any of the locations, etc. If anyone has an interest in any of this, contact me. The files that I am working on will be accessable to whoever would like it. I am assuming it would fit on a diskette, maybe not. I am not in competition with anyone, have no intention of creating my own site, no intention to post anything anywhere. I did have some distant cousins in Henry county; Col. Sylvester Blish; Charles Cheney Blish (banker in Kewanee); and James Knox Blish, who created the Blish Genealogy. Thanks for listening. David Blish

    3. This is from the 1880 census, & there is also a bio from the 1885 Portrait & Biographical Album of Henry Co. page 695. There are other Wiley bios also if you are interested. James Wiley, carriage and wagon manufacturer, of Wethersfield, was born in Ireland, September 1823. He came with his father, William Wiley, to America when but 17 years of age, and his mother, Mary (McCurdy) Wiley, followed the next year. In Philadelphia the death of the father occurred, and that of the mother in Wethersfield Township. James was the fifth in order of birth of a family of six children, and while in Philadelphia learned the trade of wagon-maker from his brother. In 1849 he came from the latter place into Stark County and engaged to work at his trade in Toulon, which he continued for about a year, and in 1850 came into Henry County. He located in Wethersfield, where he built a carriage shop, in which he has since carried on his business, and in 1883 built a fine residence, in which he and his family reside. Mr. Wiley was married in Philadelphia, PA., July 31, 1844, to Nancy, daughter of George and Rose (Percy) Holmes, and she was born in Ireland, Oct. 20, 1821. Mrs. Holmes died in Philadelphia, PA., and her husband in Stark Co., Ill. Mary, Rosanna, James, Tillie, William J., Tillie (second), George and Laura are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Rosana and Tillie (first) are deceased. Mr. Wiley has served his township as Highway Commissioner, School Trustee and School Director. Politically, he affiliates with the Republican party. As many of you may have noticed, the site has been "gathering dust" for quite a while due to various problems beyond my control (my mom having surgery, my computer going ka-BOOM, etc) But you don't wanna hear that....and that's not why I'm posting this. In the next week or so you may encounter missing links etc if you are visiting the website. HOWEVER, you may also encounter the following: a) new data b) neater data c) parts of the 1877 History of Henry County finally making it online, including all the photos from the book d) more data categories on the downside, you may encounter less lookup volunteers...I will be removing myself from most of the books I currently am listed as volunteer for so as to make time for working on the 1877 History project. IF you are listed as a volunteer on the website, please take a look at the page and make certain I have your correct email address on it. IF you have books and are not listed on the website as a volunteer, please look at the list and if you have a book which has no volunteer or has me (Susie Martin-Rott) as a volunteer, PLEASE email me offer to do lookups from what you have. Those of you who volunteered to help with the 1877 project; I know I dropped the ball totally on that project. Please check the list on the website and if you are on it and do/do not want to do the section originally signed up for, please let me know. Now, that being said, if any of you have data on the site (submitted bios etc) please check and see if your email address on them is correct. AND, the BUREAU CO site has been updated. (don't everyone faint at once) ONE LAST THING and then I have to go start on the obits-- IF YOU ARE ON THIS LIST AND ATTEMPT TO POST TO IT FROM AN ADDRESS OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU SUBSCRIBED WITH, YOUR MESSAGE WILL NOT, I REPEAT, NOT POST. The computer that runs the list does not recognize you by any address except the one you are subscribed from. It tosses all the "BOUNCES" back to me. Please check the things I have asked and email me at rootboun@tampabay.rr.com if there is something I need to change while I am re-working these pages. Don't wait til I'm all done posting the new ones...look NOW please. Thank you. PS How about dem Tampa Bay Bucs!!! 2. Barbara Kelley
    3. Laurie, In your Birth Index prior to 1916, Henry Co, IL A-G, would you look up the last name of Goreth and list all of them, if possible, for me? Lubetia Richardson Fowler married Sebastian Goreth and I'd like to know their children's names plus the parents/siblings of Sebastian as I haven't been able to find that information yet. Three of their children are Roman, Hawkeye S. and Ruth Goreth but I haven't any other information. Lubetia and Sebastian were married in Henry Co, IL on October 05, 1879 Vol 001/0050, license #0000027. One sibling of Sebastian, I think, is Cornelia Goreth who married Charles F. Taylor on October 05, 1879 so I think it was a double marriage -- Henry County, Illinois VOL 001/page 51, license # 0000028 -- per the date. Thank you much in advance!!! It will give me more to go on in my research. Barbara Kelley

Memorial services are Saturday, February 1, 2003 for Clarence "Jack" Williams...formerly of Geneseo, Henry Co, Illinois... currently of Forsyth, Missouri. Burial will be at a later date. Forsyth Whelchel Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Clarence died January 28, 2003 at Cox Hospital South, Springfield, Missouri after a long history of heart problems. He was born Juky 16, 1935 in Atoka, Oklahoma and his parents are Andrew and Bertha (Meek) Williams. Clarence married his wife Janet Whitted in December, 1961 in Geneseo, Illinois. His children are: Clarence Jr, and Marrion Woods, and grandchildren are: Bradley and Charles Williams of Eldridge, Iowa. He has three brothers (not listed) and a sister, Syble Sexton of Cambridge, Illinois.

    3. Good morning List: Could anyone kindly give me an idea what church/churches immigrants from England living in Kewanee might have attended in 1878? I know that they attended Episcopal churches after they moved to Minnesota. Maybe church records would yield some new information. Thank you. Sherry

    3. Hi, I have never heard about the Patriot Album, so I think you're talking about the Portrait & Biographical album of Henry Co., IL 1885.I hope this helps. This is what it has on David Strohecker on page 631: David Strohecker, of the township of Cambridge, is a resident on section 2. He was born Nov. 2, 1802, in Berks Co., Pa. His parents, Daniel and Leah (Garber) Strohecker, were natives of the same county and there passed nearly the entire extent of their lives. They died in Northumberland Co., Pa. They were the parents of 12 children. The family descent is of German origin. The paternal grandfather, Daniel Strohecker, was born in that country, and when he came to the United States he settled in Pennsylvania. His son, John Strohecker, was one of the soldiers of the Revolution. The latter was a brick-layer by trade and in the later life he was interested in farming. He married in Pennsylvania and there reared a family of eight children. He never removed from the State. His son, Daniel Strohecker, married Leah Garber, who was a native of the Keystone State. Her father, John Garber, was born in the same State and was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He, too, afterwards became a farmer. Father and mother both died in Pennsylvania. Mr. Strohecker grew to manhood in the state where he was born and passed forty years of active life as a brick-layer. In April, 1865, he came to Henry County, and at first bought 80 acres of land in the township of Cambridge. Soon after he bought another like amount of land and the estate now includes 166 acres in the best possible condition for prosperous farming. The estate is the accumulation of the proprietor in his own unaided strength and perseverance. He has passed most of his life in hard labor. In his political connection and views he is a Republican. He formed a matrimonial alliance with Sarah Hummel, May 14, 1824. She was born in Berks Co., Pa., and the name of her father was John Hummell. The issue of their marriage was eight children. Dr. George W., is deceased. Sevilla S. married a man named Zimmerman. Benavel, John, Catherine L.(deceased), Mrs. Mary Thompson and Henry C. are the names that complete the list. The last named was a soldier in the Civil War, where he lost his life, in the Army of the Cumberland. Reuben still resides with his parents. He was married in Pennsylvania to Hannah Hime. Her father was a native of Pennsylvania and was of German extraction. The young people have three children, named Henry Calvin, Mrs. Johanna Steckhouse and Laura E. vze4tx9x wrote: > Hi List: > Does anyone know of the Henry County Illinois Patriot Biographical Album (1885)?
