I have the following data in the family tree database. The simplest wat to respond is to do a search, create some family trees, and a report. If I have located the right families here, let me know. I may be able to send this as some family group sheets, or web pages. I can explain all that, if you want to know how. The gedcom file is done. It contains 2,761 people, links to places and events, like residing in places, enlistment.discharge from the war, etc. Remind me of what the message was about, and what you want in particular. I get lots of email every day, and I am busy assisting my 89 year old Mom. Stay in contact, and I didn't get your first name. Thanks, David Blish John W. Gustav (Gustof) English and Ida Matilda Johnson were married in Henry County on 12/10/1883. Gustav was born 10/25/1863 in Enges, Barlingbo, Gotland, Sweden; I can trace his roots back many generations. However, Ida is a dead end. Here's what I know. She was born January 24, 1864 in Sweden, and died in Beemer, Cuming County, Nebraska. Gus & Ida had the following children: Alma Josephine, born 1884 in Illinois, m. Arthur McKown Emil Gustave, born 1886 Elmer Rudolf, born 1888, m. Anna Ernest Carl, born 1890 Edwin F., born 1894 Esther M., born 1896 Lincoln D., born 1898 in Nebraska, died 1908 Adolf, born 1900 Albert, born 1904, died 1915. Gustav & Ida are my husband's great great grandparents. If anyone can help with Ida's parents, or if you are also related to these families and would like to share info, please email me! Thanks!

I have (mostly) completed creating a family tree database from the Henry County bios. I want to look it over one time before doing anything with it. It contains data on 2,982 people, with the usual birth/marriage/death/burial/children events, and additional events like: immigration, residence, enlistment & discharge, etc. Next is to create the 'searchable database' where people can be searched by: last name; first/middle name; DOB; DOD; names of parents. The last effort will be to make some improvements to the 181 WORD document, which contains the bios. It has the wordprocessing codes to created the Table of Contents, needs pagination and codes to create the name index and place index. The family tree database can be saved in GEDCOM format, and the WORD file in RTF format. The searchable database should be accessible via ClarisWorks, AppleWorks, WORKS, and EXCEL. This has taken longer than expected. I have had some issues to deal with in my home which has taken up much of my time. David Blish
Hello list, Hope all is well with everyone....(the flu bug has been visiting here in FL...) I am starting back on my Henry County research and I am trying to focus on the ALLEN family that came from Northern Ireland in the mid 1860s and settled in Atkinson and Geneseo. I am descended from the line of Hugh ALLEN (b. 1844 d.15 Dec 1883) and Agnes GREY? (b. 1843 d.11 Jun 1908?) which includes their sons Andrew b. June 1864 d.04 Dec 1947 and married to Dana Esther Benton. Thier daughters were Elvira b. 1891, Beulah (b. 1897 d. 01 Jan 1929 ), and Gwendolyn.(b. 1902) Samuel (b. Feb 1869 d.01 Jun 1928) married Jennie M. Pritchard (no known children) John (b. July 1871 d. c 1965) married Nellie Morrow (b 16 Jan 1869/1870 d 28 Dec 1926) who had one surviving child at birth Merle b. 1898 d. 1986) To my knowledge and extensive research this appeared to have been the only individuals in this family group. Apparently there was a cousin to either Hugh or Agnes in the area also from Northern Ireland but I am unable to pin this person down. There is one female, who I believe to be related to Agnes (maiden name might be GREY), and I also have seen a Robert Allen who is abt the same age as Hugh who is also listed as being from Northern Ireland but I cannot link him to my line. I found a photo from c. 1905 that has my great grandmother with the family and there is a little boy that is noted by her as her "4th" cousin. She wrote that about 75 years after the fact so I am not sure how valid it is. From census records there were no males born to her uncle so I am assuming it was not her first cousin on the ALLEN side. Their is another ALLEN family in Geneseo that originated from England. I do not believe they are related to my line as my ALLENS were Scotch-Irish. All the ALLENs buried in Geneseo are at the Oakwood Cemetery. Thanks for any information.. best wishes Stephen
Hi Melba, I have a Nils Nilsson Nyblom, born 6 June 1827, at Älvkarhed in Alfta. He was married to Anna Jonsdotter, born 10 Oct. 1821, at Gundbo in Alfta. My great great grandmother, Brita Olsdotter, was born 6 Aug. 1827 at Älvkarhed in Alfta. I don't know if she was related to Nils, but she was a fifth cousin, or so, to Anna. I have some parts of the Nyblom and Jonsdotter lines traced back to the 1600s. Other parts, not so far. I do have some descendants. I have a Melba married to a man named Johnson. Is that you?? Bob
Angie, The farm where the stone is located belongs to Iener Olson. His wife, Justina told me last week that there is a bridge out on the road, so you have to get to his farm in a round about way. I don't know if you can get there this way (I don't know where the bridge is out), but from the center of Bishop Hill, go west on the road that runs in front of the colony store. Go all the way on that road where it ends in a "T". Turn right, drive to the next corner. Turn left on that road. Iener's farm is about a mile or so down the road on the left hand side. Go down the lane to his farm. Somewhere in a pasture near there is the stone. Bonnie

Did you know Roy Ostrom? He was an ancestor of one of the Pigg sisters. Can't remember off hand which one. Roy helped get me started on my research. Yes, it seems most of the people form Alfta were related in one way or another. My great great grandmother, Brita Olsdotter, was from there. I don't remember if I'm related in any way to the Pigg sisters, but I'll check. Bob
The one that I am direct descendants of are Elisabeth Andersdotter Pigg. She is my ggg-grandmother. From what I know, her parents and all of her siblings except for one sister died on the voyage over here. She married Olof Imberg and had 5 children. They all died of cholera. I'm not sure what year she left the colony, but she went to Galva and married Martin Englund and had 5 more children. I have photograph of Elisabeth and Martin. There are many others that I am related to such as Margta Ersdotter, Mary Bloom, Nils Persson and Barbro Joransdotter, Olof Jonsson Karg, Per Ersson Karg, all of the Kihlberg's, Erik Ersson Klang, Olf and Olof Johansson Kling. I could go on with a few more. But these are not direct descendants. Most of them are cousins. I have researched my genealogy extensively and found many ties to Bishop Hill. Angie, I'd suggest you stop by the Colony Church in Bishop Hill and try and track down Dan Tingleaf and get directions from him. Take your map with, too. I'd also suggest taking your hiking shoes, because you may have to walk from the nearest road. I believe this is also private property, so you should try to check with the owner. I'm not sure who owns the land, but Dan probably knows. Are you related to some of the Colonists? Bob Nelson
