They had two sons, Carl and Harry, and adopted my Aunt who was Irene Kurbat when she was a toddler. They all lived in the Kewanee area.>> Doris, Could this be a connection to my LEMPKE? The LEMPKE's I am looking for were foster parents to my mother, DOROTHY WISSER, born 1926. They lived on a farm in Kewanee, IL [the address was a post office box #]. I can see the farm in my mind's eye. My LEMPKE's had a daughter named, VELMA, born probably in the early 1900's. When the LEMPKE's passed away, VELMA, took over the care of my mother and the farm along with her husband, EVERETT KRAUSE. I have pictures, but no names to tie to the faces. What do you think? Could there be a connection? Beverly Mack Zanon

    1. [ILHENRY-L] Guardian Records
    2. Does anyone have access to Henry Co.'s Guardian records and index for 1856-1928? If so, would you be willing to do a lookup for me. Child: Senith Arvilla (Saphonia) DAVIS Child: Dora HENDRICKSON Child: William (Willis) B. HENDRICKSON Parent: Susan HENDRICKSON, mother of all three children. Year: About 1872 Senith Davis wrote in her journal that her mother, Susan Hendrickson, gave up her children abt 1872 because she could not support them. Appreciate any info and help. Thank you. 3. Doris, Do you by any chance have a Katherine Houck from Germany or a Henri Fuchs from Alsace Lorraine France on your CD. I know they were both sponsored by someone in Illinois but can not find when they came over. I have been told somewhere between the 1850's to 1890's quite a gap ha. Thank you for any help in advance. Carole

    1. [ILHENRY-L] RE: Powers & Cox requests
    2. Only one Powers listed on the 1860 census, he is Wm. H. w/ wife Cath. from New York. No S.C. Cox on the 1860, several Cox families, none in Oxford, and the only one w/ first initial "S" is Samuel, a minor child. Sorry it could not be more, hope it helps. Kim

    3. Kathryn, Try the courthouse in Cambridge, Henry County, Illinois. If they don't have it then try WIU(Western Illinois University)in Macomb, Illinois. They have the IRAD records and they have a lot of them. I can give you a website that will list all the Illinois IRAD Depositories. County Search go to http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/irad County addresses go to http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/cntyaddr.html#c be sure to type in the complete addy. If you don't you will not be able to look at it. It will say Forbidden. I know I tried it. Depository addresses go to http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/iradaddr.html Good luck on your search. Hope it helps you.
