Hello Listers - I received the marriage license for my gg-grandmother and her second husband and I am hoping that someone has access to a city directory from 1900, or may know this answer from their own searches. Would those of you with Kewanee cemetary records mind looking for Horatio G. Sanford? He was killed in Mississippi in 1864 during the Civil War and I have no idea where he was buried. Thank you for your help! Susan Sanford Sellew

I noticed tonight when on EBay that there is an unidentified picture of a man taken by Wilson (photographer) in Kewanee. Might be a missing relative for someone. Just do a Kewanee search at Ebay. Janet Miller

You can go to <www.henrycty.com> for copies of the forms you need. I wasn't able to get that site, so I wrote for the forms. They answered right away. You need their form and a cashier's check or a money order for $7.00 for a copy of a death record. If you have trouble with their site too, the address is: Good Luck, Ann Martha Roberts Henry County Clerk 307 W Center St. Cambridge, Il 61238 Phone (309) 937-3575 FAX (309) 937-2796
In the marriage records for Henry Cty there is a marriage on July 21, 1864 for O. A. GILBERT and Fanny GRANT. Fanny was the d/o Michael Grant and Jane COAD Grant. I would appreciate any information on Osmond and Fanny after their marriage ie where did they go, did they have any children, etc. I believe Osmond may be the son of an O. A. Gilbert who raised stock in Henry Cty having come there from NY in 1844.
Allen - although I do not live in Henry County, it is the ancestral home of most of my husband's line and his sister still lives there - her address is in Orion, and yes, Orion is definitely in Henry County. Have been there many times. As for the death and birth records you are looking for: According to The Handy Book for Genealogists, Ninth Edition, the Henry County Clerk has: "incomplete" birth and death records from 1877, marriage records from 1837 and land records from 1835. The 1877/1876 birth records that you are searching are just early enough that they might not be available. Statewide registration of births and deaths did not start in Illinois until 1916 so county records are often quite spotty up until that time. There was no requirement to register births before then. You may need to try one of the nearby counties for your 1908/1912 deaths. Have you tried a funeral home in the area for records of these deaths? They can be quite helpful. Good luck in your search. I need some help. My wife's ggrandparents lived in Geneseo, her father even graduate from there in 1917, yet they are not listed in the Henry Co. Genealogical Society's death index and yet we believe they died there. They are buried in Oakwood Cemetery there. Does this mean that the county would not have death records for them? Lowes, William d. 9/17/1908 Lowes, Martha d. 3/6/1912 I have another question? The birth records index doesn't list my wife's grandmother who was born in Orion, IL. My map indicates that Orion is in Henry County, am I mistaken about that? Good evening, I hope someone will be able to help me. I found my g/grandfather Frank Wilson and g-grandmother Aletha J Sheriff on the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900. They were married in Henry Counth, Geneseo on July 26, 1871. I sent a letter to The Henry County Clerk requesting for a copy of the Marriage Certificate for my g/grandparents. What I received was a Marriage License! No other documentation was enclosed. My question is, should I also write to the Illinois State Board of Health? And if so, how much is the fee and who do I make the money order out to? Thanks, Don Wilson Ottawa, CANADA
