Barb & Donna; Donna, I have done this several times for people at Oakwood Cemetery. Unfortunately, it is winter here now; but once spring gets here, I'd be more than happy to go out and take the photos for you. Listers; Does anyone have the plot map for this gravesite location at Oakwood, and can mail it to me? I know there are maps out there. If someone would snail mail me one, I would be very appreciative. Thanks to all. Mikki Judge Family Historian - Preserving the past for the future. List, I do have a copy of this book with an index, so I am happy to help. Please note that I furnished a copy of the index to this book to the Henry County Gen. To Janet and the List. My copy of the History of Henry Co. Illinois , it's taxpayers and voters is the original 1st edition published in 1877 and in 1877 was the property of Ira B. Keeler. As such, It is not indexed and now the cover is becoming loose due to all the browsing I have been doing thru it . I am a very busy person but I love to help people in their searches, however,I would prefer to let you, Janet, do the searches as apparently you have always done this in the past. I am interested in Simmons' and joined this list because a Wm. H. Simmons was listed on pg. 335 of the original book. Any info about him or his descendants would be appreciated. Mike Simmons/Kansas Look for assistance from any source also. I'm researching the family of A.B. Foy (first name unknown, only initials). Was known to be living in Atkinson area (Ehabiney Grove?) around 1890. Son Lawrence B. Foy left the area around 1908 for Colorado. Lawrence returned around 1911 to bury his mother who had been living with him in Colorado. Eventually ended up in Kalispell, Montana. Any information on A.B. or Lawrence Foy would be greatly appreciated.
There was a Henry Headley who went to Princeton, Ill., in Bureau Co., in the 1830's to study religion. It is described in a Bureau county history. Could that be the same Headly family? I am also looking for help. I am looking for Christian Henry Gran. I know that in 1860 he was living in Andover, Illinois (Henry county) as that is when my ggrandfather was born. (Henry Wells Gran) But then I have lost Christian completely. Thank you for any help in advance. Carole
Mike, Could you please look for a HEISTER HEADLEY and CLAYTON RYMAN in you book. I know Heister Headley was in Henry Co Ill in 1880, but I am not where Clayton Ryman is in 1880, I have lost him between 1870 and 1900. Thank you Vicky Sutton [email protected]
You might want to check the microfilm for 1870...where Isaac Ruggles appears as head of household, age 48 born Massachusettes. Henry Co, Geneseo page 478 The index only gives his info...no more. I also checked the1860 and 1850 indexes....and find a possibility for your guy, Isaac 1860 Isaac D. Ruggles, Scott Co, Davenport IA page 389 1850 Isaac D. Ruggles, Worcester Co, Westborough MASS page 378 There is another Isaac Ruggles,,,or possible two of them who appear in opposite censusus which I have included below...but I believe the Isaac D. Ruggles was your guy. Isaac Ruggles 1850 Oakland Co, Pontiac MI page 192 Isaac M. Ruggles Worcester Co, Upton MA page 875 (there is a MASS marriage record for this Isaac M. Ruggles. Hope this helps....Julie Bissell Tupker
Is it Janet that is so kind to do these look ups? Are you looking at that book "the History of Henry County" or tax records (or maybe tax records are in the book)? Well, I am jumping on the bandwagon and asking for your help too! I am looking for Isaac D. RUGGLES and his wife Catherine G. (CRAWFORD) RUGGLES. Also, their son, Edward A. RUGGLES and his wife Clara Mary (CARL) RUGGLES. Also, it couldn't hurt to look for Eva RUGGLES (their daughter -- and my grandmother) I am also trying to find any traces of my HAMM ancestors. In another search of one of the history books, there was a minister with that surname, but I haven't seen many others of that name in the area. I know the Ruggles were from Munson township in Henry County -- Geneso, IL Isaac and Catherine moved there from the Northeast. Eva was born in Geneseo. Clara Mary (Carl) Ruggles is a mystery -- I don't yet know her parents or where she was born. I would really appreciate whatever you can find! DeeDee
