    2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. I find Daniel MOONEY married Abigail SMOUSE. They had both been born in Pennsylvania. Some of their children were born in Ohio. They appear to be listed under the name MOODY in the 1880 Henry County, Illinois Census. I am even now seeking an image of that census on the IL-Census-Lookup list. Is any current member of this list familiar with this family? 2. We have been working right along with members helping members and others. Obviously we have been "set up" correctly by Susie in the first place! Some adjustments are always ongoing and those have naturally occurred. David Blish has a huge job ahead of him but he says that he needs to work so maybe can find ways to assist him in a really huge job. We can send him what we know about various families and he can suggest how (what form) to prepare the material we all may have. What say you, David?! Dick Matteson College Park, MD PS. Like I have microsoft Word , but the 95 version which sometimes is not useable by later versions!. I have somewhat older versions of Family Origins and Family Tree... will that matter or will gedcoms of those data suffice?

    2. My grandfather farmed in Beadle Co. it is the middle of the State near Huron, SD the place that they lived was Wessington, SD My Mom talked about working at a cafe in Vayland (Ghost town) now after high school. She graduated in 1928. After her father died, her mother moved back to the Moline area as one of her brothers --Ed Bonamie moved back there. I think some families did come here as a group. Huron was a railroad town.

    3. Hi, I had a great uncle who went to Aberdeen, S.D. from Henry Co., IL. They had to hold up his mother's burial in 1942 as he didn't make it home on time for the funeral. He was the only one in the family that went. He left a wife and children here when he moved to S.D., but I was told that he went there about 1920. Rather ironic that 3 of us had family move from IL to SD about the same time. 2. My mothers family came from Henry County, IL. They moved to South Dakota in 1920 when my Mom was 10 years old. My Grandfathers name was Philip (Theophilus) I think --Bonamie. Her mothers name was Mary Ellen Avoy. I found their marriage certificate in the Illinois State marriage website. Mary Ellen had 3 sisters ---I found their marriages at the same time. Both my grandparents died before I was born. I have photos of them and the pictures have the name of a studio in Genesoa. (SP.)

So far the family tree database id 825 people, and alphabetically speaking, I am only at 'H'. As a reminder, I am doing this to make the lookup of people easier. If the data is in the 'searchable database', then its in the family tree database. If its was in the family tree database, it was probably in the web pages at the Henry County site, or from a genealogy. The searchable database should be accessible via AppleWorks, WORKS, or EXCEL. I'm not done yet, and haven't given up on this or become ill. This is a hobby, something that I am doing to have something constructive and challenging to do. 3. Hello David; I understand exactly, and I learned to use that word wisely. I have a similar project, the surname DUNBAR in the 1850 census. (Washington and Stanley in the 1850 in Henry County are mine.) If you have any DUNBAR info you would like to offer I will be happy to add it. My Gedcom is on-line at Rootsweb World Connect, but I have it set so no one can download any part of it. I am happy to send the Gedcom to any serious researcher, but I have learned that some people just like to have a large quantity of names to put in their Gedcom. This is also a work in progress done at a slow rate. Enough to say that doctor and physical therapy visits for my wife keep me occupied enough to know where you are coming from. So I won't go into details. List owner here has all replies going to list. Bob

    2. Ed, I also have heard the following person for years - he was the tympanist with the National Symphony under 4 different conductors! A brief review follows: "FRED BEGUN Fred Begun has been principal timpanist of the National Symphony Orchestra since his graduation in 1951 from the Juilliard School of Music, where he studied with Saul Goodman. He has appeared under the batons of Barbirolli, Bernstein, Dorati, Fiedler, Fruhbeck de Burgos, Gould, Leinsdorf, Mitchell, Reiner, Rostropovitch, Rudolph, Steinberg, Stokowski, Stravinsky, Walter and many other conductors. He holds the distinction of having given three world-premier concerto performances for timpani: in 1958, the Concerto for Five Kettledrums and Orchestra, written especially for him by Robert Parris; the Concerto for Five Timpani and Orchestra by Jorge Samientos; and the Concertante for Timpani and Chamber Orchestra by Blas Atehortua. Mr. Begun's book, 21 Etudes for Timpani, is used in music conservatories throughout the world. He is in demand for seminars, workshops and clinics and he presented a timpani symposium/masterclass at the Kennedy Center in 1988. " Fred retired rwo years ago .... Dick Matteson College Park, MD

    2. Ed, I do not study this family but I do know that there is a large group of Belgians who came to the Rock Island area of Illinois in the 1800s and later some show up in Eastern Iowa (across the Mississippi River). Also I found Lowpoint, IL about 20 miles North-East of Peoria, IL. I used the Internet finder called "Google" (www.google.com) and searched for "Begyn" and found quite a few items! You might try that. I am including a portion of a number of comments upon one Begyn's death. It is but an example, however it does mention a lot of Begyns who may be good "targets" for your research! Dick Matteson College Park, MD the clip follows, "Dennis Begyn - "one of a kind" Dennis Begyn was our neighbor and our friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. He and Clint were always helping each other, always trying to "get" each other, telling stories on each other, always trying to help each other go fast, ... Knowing Dennis, if he had to go, it would be as he did, setting a record time (for him) in a MoPar he built himself with help of family and friends. We will miss you Dennis! Storming up "Coal Creek Hill" in that Dodge Diesel Truck that sounded like a John Deere Tractor ... and all the other things that made you "one of a kind". Our heartfelt sympathy goes to wife Sandy, Dennis Jr., Jesse, and the entire Begyn family. The Hines Family __________________________ Dennis Martin Begyn, 48, of Taylor Ridge, died Friday, May 24, 2002, following his final run at Cordova Speedway, with a final elapsed time of 8.87 seconds at a speed of 150.3 mph in the quarter-mile. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Burial will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Dennis was born Nov. 25, 1953, in Rock Island, son of Daniel and Dorothy Burns Begyn. He married Sandra Martin on March 24, 1972, in Muscatine, Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran, where he served with the Army Honor Guard Detail at Arlington National Cemetery. He worked for Civil Contractors, East Moline, where he was a master mechanic. He also served as road commissioner for Andalusia Township. He loved to race and was a member of IHRA and NHRA.
