Researching MESECHER family from 1850 on. Job and Elizabeth Mesecher apparently died leaving their children placed with various families. Would like to find information on the deaths of Job and Elizabeth... have searched with no luck for a burial site or death record. Nicholas Mesecher son of Job and Elizabeth Mesecher died shortly before or the first of 1860. He is said to have drowned while panning for gold in the Platte River near Grand Island, Nebraska. Would like to hear from anyone else who has found "stories of seeking gold" in their research. Would there be a list or record of those from Illinois who went West to search for gold in 1859-60? Nicholas MESECHER married Mildred Emiline ADES. After his death Mildred married Isaac LATHROP. The surname Mesecher has many varied spellings. Thank you, Cecelia
