    3. I have a JAMES DUNN born about 1780. He received a land patent in Madison Co., IL for service in the War of 1812. James died before 12 Oct 1818 in Madison Co. His wife (possibly a REYNOLDS) also died around the same time. James Gray, who had come from Christian Co., KY was the administrator of the estate, but to date I cannot find that he has any connection with this Dunn family. I believe James Dunn and his wife left these children: 1.) Elizabeth Dunn b. 1817 in OH. As an infant she was taken in by James Nutter PIPER and his wife, Catherine VINYARD. This family was paid from the Dunn estate to care for Elizabeth for several years; at which point James Piper died. Elizabeth later married Amos HART and lived in Schuyler Co., IL and Adams Co. (I have their descendants). 2.) Reynolds Dunn, b. 1814 in NJ. After his parents died he may have lived with James GRAY and/or Joseph Bartlett TEAS (1830 census in Schuyler Co., IL). Reynolds married Mary Ann BATES in 1849 and died in 1850, leaving one child, Martha Dunn, who later married John Edward TOMLINSON and lived in Gallatin, Daviess Co., MO. 3.) Alexander Dunn b. abt. 1810-1812. In 1840 he was the head of a household in McDonough Co., IL. I believe he died about 1842 and his family "disappears." However, I think he had a son, Alexander Dunn Jr., living with Hardy McCormack in the 1850 census in Jefferson Co., MO. 4.) Michael Dunn b. bet 1805-1810. He was schooled for a while in 1818 by Joseph Bartlett TEAS, according to the estate papers. 5.) James E.? Dunn b. abt 1800. On 9 Mar 1819 he married Zilpha THOMAS. This might be the same person shown in the 1840 Census in Hancock Co.: 1840 Census, Hancock Co., IL M704 #60, p. 189 Jas E.
