Specifically, I am trying to identify information about Adam Pilkington who married Jane Garside. The family converted to Mormonism (LDS) and then immigrated to America. Adam came alone on the ship Hanover, with a Date of Departure: 12 Mar 1842 Port of Departure: Liverpool, England LDS Immigrants: 200 Church Leader: Amos Fielding Date of Arrival: 2 May 1842 Port of Arrival: New Orleans, Louisiana Notes: "FOURTEENTH COMPANY. -- Hanover, about 200 souls. The ship Hanover sailed from Liverpool March 12th, 1842, with about two hundred Saints on board bound for Nauvoo, via New Orleans, in charge of Amos Fielding arrived in Nauvoo with about one hundred and fifty of his company, May 14th, 1842." That ship manifest listed a Thomas Pilkington (age 28), an Elizabeth Pilkington (age 23), and Adam Pilkington (age 32). The following year his wife and children came to the U.S. aboard the ship Champion. Date of Departure: 21 Oct 1843 Port of Departure: Liverpool, England LDS Immigrants: 91 Date of Arrival: 6 Dec 1843 Port of Arrival: New Orleans, Louisiana Notes: "TWENTY-THIRD COMPANY. -- Champion, 91 souls. October 21st, 1843, the ship Champion sailed from Liverpool with ninty-one Saints on board, bound for Nauvoo, via New Orleans. The above which is taken from Linforth's 'Route from Liverpool to Great Salt Lake Valley,' is all the information that I have been able to glean about this company." The ship manifest listed Jane Pilkington (age 31), Mary Pilkington (age 9), Margaret Pilkington (age 5), Betty Pilkington (age 4), and Amos Pilkington (age 3). The family settled in Nauvoo and did not leave with the Mormon migration to Salt Lake City after the death of Joseph Smith.
