    3. RE: Alton Cemetery, Fountain Green Township White, Thomas B. - b: April 27, 1828 d: May 16, 1863 aged 35 years 19 days 1st Lieut. Co. A. 118th Regiment, Illinois volume, fell at the battle of Champion Hill, Mississippi. Buried by his brothers and arms M. Black River Bridge. (Also government American white marble head stone. =-=-=-=-= 1st Lt. Thomas B. White was the son of Jary White Sr. and Lucena Lawrence. He served in Company A, 118th Regiment, Illinois Volunteers. The phrase about his burial should probably begin: Buried by his brothers at arms or Buried by his brothers in arms I believe the markers in the Alton Cemetery are commemorative markers. There is also a marker for him at Vicksburg National Cemetery, Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi, Section O, grave #4324. The meaning of the phrase "M. Black River Bridge" is unclear.
