    3. Dear Seekers: In the April 2000, HC Historical Society Newsletter, there is a 'flyer' regarding the Millennium Edition Hancock County Illinois Pictorial History, by Kathryn BURKETT and Donald PARKER. Quoting from 'flyer': "The book includes more than 220 photographs which illustrate the lives, interests and significant historical events of the county, from the burial places of its earliest settlers to the agricultural progress of today. Included are many never previously published photographs of the Mississippi River, along with scenes of people at work and play which add significant character to the concise and informative text. This an 8 1/2 by 11 hardcover, color dust jacket which you will enjoy and be proud to display." Sample photographs include: Mississippi River steamboat; train stopped at Ferris Depot; the old covered bridge at Hamilton (was the road across the Mississippi); the only round barn still standing in the county (doesn't say where this is and I don't know its location); and the F. D. JOLIDAN and Son Horse Farm located three miles northwest of Elvaston in Montebello Twp - was a popular spot from 1885 until 1901.
