Hello, My Hancock Co. ancestors were BRYANT, LANGLEY, THURBER, and PATTERSON. The first three families lived near each other and were located appoximately five miles southeast of Carthage in the vicinity of the Old Brick Church & cemetery. Peter & Lucretia Bryant came to Hancock Co. from Floyd Co., VA circa 1854. My oldest Thurber ancestors were James & Elizabeth Thurber. James was a veteran of the War of 1812, and he is buried in the Old Brick Church cemetery. My oldest Langley ancestors were Joseph & Susannah Langley. They are buried on the old Langley farm. My oldest Patterson ancestors were Thomas & Elvira Patterson. They were from Macon Co., TN and came to Hancock Co. circa 1848. They lived in Pilot Grove township. These are some of the early settlers of Hancock Co.--coming to Hancock Co. between 1800 & 1855.
