Big John BARNARD murdered Henley Sutton and was arrested along with two of his brothers Anderson and Elisha and two cousins John BARNARD Jr. and Clint BARNARD. They wre sentenced to death, but Gov. Taylor intervened and gave two of them their freedom [ Elisha and John Jr. the cousin ]. Big John got 10 years and Clinton and Anderson 5 years. This all happened aftr the war and the Sutton man evidently was a mean character also, who killed his own father. Articles appeared in the Newspapers from Jan 1889-Oct 1892. I had relatives inthis area @ 1850-60 and am dying to find out who this is. Thank you Karen
