At the age of 17 years he came to Hancock county, Illinois, where he resided until his death, which occurred Aug. 21st, 1911, being at the time of his death, 81 years, 5 months and 10 days old. In the year of 1850, he was united in marriage to Hester Ward and to this union were born three children. Two boys, Alonzo and William, have preceded him to the better land. One daughter, Mrs. Maggie Green, is still living at Peoria, Ill. He was united in marriage to Rebecca A. Munson in the year of 1857. To this union were born seven children, Abigail, dying in infancy, and Fernndo, at the age of 19 years. The living are: Jerry F., George W., Mrs. S. A. Smith, Darius H. and Jerome Ralph and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, who are left to mourn the loss of a loving and dutiful father and grandfather. He united with the Oak Grove Christian church a number of years ago and has been a faithful and consistent member ever since. He was one among the early settlers of this community, of which children and grandchildren are proud to own, but his spirit has gone to be with the wife and mother, who preceded him several years before and both are resting in the arms of the dear Saviour, waiting and watching for the loved ones here at home, which will be but a short journey to the tomb. / . .
