Carthage Republican - June 3, 1891, page 1 FERRIS: A Sunday school has been organized at the Lafayette school house with an encouraging outlook. There is no reason why this should not be one of the best schools in the township. There is a good intelligent class of citizens in this community, and they should protect themselves with this moral influence. Young Mr. Benchee was elected assistant superintendent, and Miss Nora Langner, leader of the singing. Mr. Wm. McCormic is the efficient secretary, and Mrs. Gill, librarian. At the festival given by the ladies of the Lafayette vicinity, $19.24 was realized. This will be applied on minister's salary. Good order prevailed throughout. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Carthage Republican - Jan 4, 1893, page 1 BENTLEY: A very important question has been under discussion in this place for several days, viz., When does the 20th century commence? and quite a difference of opinion exists as to the exact date.
