    1. Re: [ILHANCOC] Found another stone at Old Brick
    2. Wow, This is EXCITING! I had no idea there was a Waggoner Creek near that area. Rebecca's maiden name was Waggoner. They lived there during the "Winter of the Deep Snow" (1832?). Her husband was Peter Williams and he was the squatter on the abandoned Fort Madison (in Iowa, across the river). He moved there after Rebecca died and had quite a battle with the Army over property rights. (There is some info about this on the Ft Madison website). He is buried in Iowa, but we never knew where Rebecca was interred. Just a note in family history about being laid to rest on a bluff overlooking the river near Nauvoo. (They had a farm there, but it was flooded too many times and Peter finally gave up and moved across the river). Thanks for the info! I look forward to finding any info on the Riverside Cemetery! Thank you all so much. It isn't far from Waggoner Creek south of Nauvoo and high upon a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. There are a number of early burials there and for some years it was not actively used. There seems to be renewed interest in the burial ground in recent years and there are new burials there now. It is a beautiful and restful setting. I don't know if Shawnee has gotten Riverside posted yet but that would be my first suspicion as to where you might find Rebecca and her child.
