Hi, Just a note to say I found the obit of Benjamin Weaver in the Carthage Republican, dated July 29, 1869. He was working temporarily in the area, but lived in Missouri, and his wife was a widow who had six children by a former husband. He drowned in Middle Creek on a Sunday evening, and was buried on Monday, apparently either right on the fence line, or perhaps, just outside the fence line, and then his family was notified. I suppose it might possibly be true that he is not really buried in the Old Brick cemetery. Some other things are said in the obit about him being very profane. When the state archaeologist was here, he warned me there might be burials in the fence row or outside of the fence row.
