Thank you, Ron. You are definitely right about it being a post office. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that if it was a post office it was also a town. Perhaps the post offices at that time (1840-1850) were in settlements, not towns, or just in one of the scattered private homes sort of like a pony express station. And yes, the Kibbe museum did have a display of postmarks, and they may be able to tell me a lot more, so I will check there soon. Thanks again.
