Have you checked the U.S. Geological Survey's geographical names database? This town has been gone about a century as it was flooded when the dam was constructed between Hamilton IL and Keokuk IA. I have found maps of the town in one of the county histories but it does not mention a cemetery. Anybody know? Mary ==== ILHANCOC Mailing List ==== List owner Shawnnee Bolt Ramey [email protected]
Hi Cheri, Yes there was a cemetery that was flooded by the Dam when it was built in 1903 I believe it was around Bakers Beach if you know where that was. Hancock Co. Historical Soc. Told someone looking for Zeh Cemetery that it was flooded and gone. Perhaps they were talking about this cemetery. Zeh Cemetery is at the top of a bluff overlooking the Miss. River, and if it flooded, there wouldn't be anything in the area at all!
