Would the record of burial have the information that Kim was looking for? Another alternative might be the Circuit Clerk (for the courts). Kim, FYI The St. Louis Genealogy Society has this book in their collection called: Eberwein Genealogy http://www.stlgs.org/readingRoomBooks.htm I agree with Sherry - go directly to the Hancock County court house and see if there are court records for that name. I found oodles of records for my LONGWELL family, ca: 1890, in the Knox County court house that I never knew existed. Full of very useful info. Good luck!
