Her father was born in Kentucky and her mother was born in Virginia. Nancy Rose married Benjamin F. Pugh in 1862 Hancock County, Illinois. They had the following children while living in Illinois: (1) Eliza S. (2) Sidney Elmer (3) Arthur Franklin "Frank" and (4) William A. They had two more children when they moved to Iowa. They were listed in the 1870 census of Hancock County, Illinois. Benjamin was listed as Frank and his son Arthur F. was listed as Frank.
