This afternoon at Old Brick Cemetery, I leveled a few more bases, and started cleaning the secondary base of Margaret Printy (I discovered it has poetry on it); will mortar it in place later. Today I installed the new cement base for Daniel Hamilton, and mortared his stone into the base, so it is now done. Did some probing and witching, and searched for the fragment of Jane Mapes stone, and for footstones but found nothing yet. Did some landscaping work around a few bases, to try to prevent settling and keep them level. Have mortared the cement base of the John Munson stone, and started on doing the same to the Richard Cannon stone, to prevent water damage. Put a plastic flower cone on Clara Jane Mapes original base which I recently found underground. It was a gorgeous day to work today. I work inside most of the time so always enjoy the opportunity to work outside when the weather permits. Robert
(Put a plastic flower cone on Clara Jane Mapes original base which I recently found underground. ) The preceding statement was part of your summary of about todays work. I wonder how that plastic flower cone got in there and who might have put it there. Plastics weren't generally available until about the middle part of the 20th century, were they?
