Henry DAVIS died May 9th, aged 87. He was one of the pioneers of Rock Creek, having settled there in 1847 on the farm on which he died. His wife and five children preceded him in death and four children survived. Mrs. Jennie GANNON and A. J. DAVIS, Ferris; Mrs. Elizabeth JACKSON, Flagler, Cal. and Edward DAVIS, McCall. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Mr. Ringwald assisted by Rev. Mr. Ward. Pallbearers were: R. Merritt, French Haggard, John Camp, G.W. Thompson, A.B. Atkins and R. F. McCall. Burial was at Moss Ridge. Mr. Davis was greatly interested in church work. His home was used for holding religious service and scores had been converted under his roof. He helped organize the first Sunday school here and was a leader in the temperance movement. (Correction to article: it is James A. Davis not A.J. Davis; his wife who preceded him in death was Mary Ann Tyler Davis.)
