Leland R. Beck officiating. Burial will be in Moss Ridge cemetery. Mr. Austin died Tuesday, Aug. 12, in a hospital in Kankakee. Austin, 92, of Carthage were held Thursday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. in the Kilgore Memorial Home, the Rev. Leland R. Beck officiating. Mrs. Ralph Denison played the organ. Casket bearers were Alfred Wear, Chester Dorothy, Lewis Habben, Leo Austin, Raymond Bachman and Orval Jacobs. Burial was in Moss Ridge cemetery. Mr. Austin died Tuesday, Aug. 12, in a Kankakee hospital. He had been in ill health for several years and a patient in the hospital for three years. Born on a farm east of Carthage Dec. 4, 1865, he was a son of Francis S. and Phoebe Mapes Austin. He was married to Ellen Smith and they farmed on rural route 1 until Mrs. Austin's death Dec. 10, 1952. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America lodge. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bachman of Hazelton, Ia. and Mrs. Grace Jenkins of Harvey; nine grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
