He was born in Canada and came with his parents to Hancock county in 1848, settling near Carthage, then moving to Oak Grove. He was married to Miss Lucinda Laughley in 1853 and they were the parents of ten children, of whom seven with the widow survived: Mrs. Jane Prichard, Eli D., Alvin A., Jerry E., Joseph L., Marion A., Lacey T., and twenty grandchildren. The funeral was held from the home March 5th, Rev. H. M. Bloomer officiating.
