Her death, like her life, was peaceful and she exhibited the patience and resignation which governed her whole life, until the very last. Her greatest charm was her evenness of temper, her willingness to oblige, and the kindly thoughts for those around her. She cultivated the faculty of saying something good of everybody. Millicent Beckwith was born in Shenango County Co., N.Y., Aug. 17, 1814. Died Jan. 6 '93, aged 78 years, 4 months and [illegible] days. She was married to Lloyd Robinson July 10th, 1831. Twelve children were born to them, four of whom, Marion, Finis, and Mrs. Jno. Wright, of this place and Nineus, of Yuba City, California, with the aged husband, and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn her loss. The saddest part is the dear old man who is now left to spend the rest of his life alone. For over sixty years they have battled with life together. They, who have shared the honor of being the "oldest couple in Hancock Co.," are now divided. She, just gone over death's narrow stream, is waiting the coming of him who is on the brink of eternity, anxiously awaiting his summon. For more than 50 years have they lived in this community; and though she, who is now no more, has been a sufferer for many years, with a consumptive cough, no ever heard a word of complaint. Grandma Robinson was a favorite with all who knew her. The funeral took place at the church on Sunday at 11 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Roe, of Burnside, who preached an eloquent sermon from Hebrews 13:14, after which the remains, which were clothed in a lovely robe of cram colored satin and crepe, placed in a beautiful casket bearing the inscription "At Rest", were followed by a large concourse of people to the Wildwood cemetery, where the remains were laid to await the coming of the Lord. Dearest mother thou has left us Here thy loss we deeply feel; But 'tis God that hath bereft us He can all our sorrows heal. * * * * * I have seen her name spelled both Millicent and Milicent, and Loyd and Lloyd for her husband. Her birth place was Chenango County, New York. I have seen several obituaries in which the Webster Cemetery has been called the Wildwood Cemetery.
