Parents were born in Pennsylvania. Simon Phillips of Hancock County could possibly be his father. William married Pearl Gray Hull of Pike County, Illinois. At the time of their marriage in 1915 they both were living in Adams County, Illinois but were married in Missouri. They were the parents of Mary Ellen, Julia Ann, Gladys, Gwendolyn, William Simon, David and Luana. On the 1920 census they were in Adams County, he was a Minister working as a Missionary. 1930 they were in Clark County, Missouri. They did not stay in one place very long. They were divorced and his wife married Robert Hatfield of Scotland County, Missouri. In 1932 William J. Phillips was living in Warsaw, Illinois. He died before 1946. I have tried the Illinois death index, the Missouri death index, court houses in Adams and Hancock County, IL. and Memphis, Mo., Keokuk and Fort Madison in Lee County, Iowa, all known places ! he lived and cannot find a death record for him or a burial place. I contacted a member of his family and they did not know anything about him. I am going to post this in Adams and Scotland Counties to see if anyone out there may have a connection to this person and can give me a birth and death date and the names of his parents and siblings.
